Not sure why, but my 575 looked like it would never fit here - like the steering column was just to tight to the bracket. I gave on it for the moment. I'll have to reassess and try again
It fits once you get rid of the lip on the bracket so you can set it in there deeper and lower than the lip allows!

You're a real modern day hero! Thanks a ton! I just need to clean up the wires a bit but everything is in and works

Nice! I was pretty pissed off at getting the MXT575 over the MXT275 when i couldn't get it to fit easily. Once I cut/bent that flap down everything fit really slick. I'm kinda surprised that steel has so many reinforcement ribs and the lip at the rear, apparently, for additional strength. Yet they hold it in with a couple small screws. Seems like overkill so i wasn't too worried about losing rigidity by modifying the bracket.

After looking at a number of other installs we had a good idea on where we wanted to stash the MXT575 of ours. It's bigger than the MXT275 so we had to modify the bracket that is under the steering wheel column a bit to get the MXT575 to sit down lower below the steering column to not interfere with normal use. We basically just cut the corners on the bracket and bent the flap down. We used a hammer to flatten it out and it gave us a wider platform to screw the MXT575 to. Photos below. It took far more time to figure out how to get panels apart.

This spot works well for the MXT575. Nice work on modifying the factory bracket, @JB1901. I essentially copied what you did. Tight fit, due to obstructions, but works out. I used 3M VHB to adhere the radio bracket to the factory part.

Thanks for finding this space. For the MXT575 this looks to be the best area to mount and "easier" to pull the radio if needed.... but the space is a bear to maneuver in. I had a bit of metal I just had to find a use for, and this looked like a fit. Trial & Error but I was able to make "bracket" to mount the radio. I was able to position the radio lower and it looks like there is plenty of room to make the antenna connection. Still have to run wires and make mic connection. Planning on doing the same mic connection at the console as others have done. I am feeling my 71 years and more.

This is the second time I have seen the transmitter body mounted here and it looks like the most logical location. When I traded my F150 for the Wildtrack, I removed my ICOM 5100 and have been eyeballing every possible location to mount the transmitter body (the radio has a separate radio head). This location looks perfect. One question, how did you remove the trim from under the steering wheel, and does this location leave enough room for some movement of the wheel column? Thank you in advance. That install looks super logical.

No trim was removed. This location is behind the dash left of the steering wheel. I bridged the 2 circled studs.

Mine is up near the A Pillar. I already had lights mounted on the JCR mount so had a natural spot to mount the antennae. Exact same place and mount Bo (OP) used.
