Go with the Base and just remove the front sway bar. The electric sway bar disconnect seems to be about $5k considering the comps. Totally not worth that much coin.

Sounds to me like you have a number of valid uses for the features that extra $10k buys. Ultimately it's up to you, but being dog-resistant means less time spent cleaning up and repairing after canine shenanigans. Beyond that, having front and rear lockers, and that stay-bar disconnect could come in really handy while overlanding, so if you're likely to be exploring a bunch, I'd say the $10k might just pay for itself making your life that much easier.

I am a 7/1 res holder, got pushed to 2022 so I went to dealer and finalized a 2022 badlands (green), MT, high package and roof rack. No other extras. Around 47k

I keep going back to, all I really want is a pure driving experience.
But I got sucked into the glam of the fancy cameras, washout flooring, fancy extra goat modes and that slick swaybar disconnect.

So here is where I'm wondering if I'm crazy because it's almost and obsession.

I keep building a base mansquatch (green), roof rack, aux switches, and floor liners.
Comes in around 38k.

Nearly 10k cheaper.

So I'm in a tailspin of is the badlands really 10k better? After the shinny newness fades away, all I will really care about is wheeling and overlanding.

The washout lining and seats sound great to me because I take my dogs with me everywhere, but I do that now in my cloth seat ranger.

It's not a money issue but who doesn't want to save some cash if they can.

Anyways I'm rambling. Just hoping I'm not alone and if anyone wants to weigh in I'd be happy to listen. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

Lastly I'm considering buying some base wheels or similar with some basic tires for everyday driving. If I change to base mansquatch.
I was firmly in the Badlands camp from July 2020 until ordering in March. In the last couple weeks what you're saying dawned on me. I realized that what I really want is a capable Bronco. I switched to

4Dr Base 2.7L Sasquatch MIC top Aux switches

I got it August 2 and love it! It has all the tech I need (8" screen, rev camera, collision warning, etc). I will rarely if ever use the front and rear diff lockers, but knowing I have then is cool. Also love the Squatch tires/suspension after thinking it was too much for months. Swaybar disco makes the vehicle heavier and you don't need it. Just one more thing to break.

BTW, my wife ordered a green 2Dr Base ManSquatch Aux. Gonna be bonkers! That's the way to go! We can afford BL, but why waste another $10k? I also believe Base Squatch will retain I higher percentage of value than any other trim.

I was the same but went with the minimum build I could do and still get auto emergency braking and BLIS since the potential of it saving the whole rig one day is hard to ignore.

Oh and also safety LOL. Black Diamond 2.7 auto.

I'm in the same boat. I messaged my dealership and asked that they change to basemansquatch I really just can't seem to being my self to feel good about the badlands when the only feature it has that I think I care about is the swaybar disco. Just doesn't feel like 10k worth it to me.

I'm not thrilled about any of the wheel options so going to be ordering some black rhino Abrams (OD green I think)

Have Both, Badlands 2.3 mid package with rim upgrade, non squatch & Base Squatch 2.7 mats, switches, BRONCO lock box Aero Skin. I prefer the Base sasquatch, simple, and can build to your liking. Wife & kids likes the BADLANDS more, alot more gadgets.

After buying cars for 40 years I've only ever regretting not spending a little extra for features I wish I had later. I wanted to be cheap on the bronco as well, but if you start thinking about how much mods cost it's far cheaper to have it on the vehicle in the first place so you won't have to worry about voiding the warranty. This thing cost me twice as much as my last truck purchase and after two months I'm not disappointed I spend the $$ glad I did .

I have a badlands sitting in my garage, and I’m honestly thinking about selling it and ordering a base. The base would do everything I need with some 32” tires on it while saving me $15K. Basesquatch is also appealing, but honestly I don’t need it here.

As for resale, I think as a percentage of MSRP the base will hold its value the best. It’s cheap to buy at around $30K MSRP, and will be a more affordable vehicle for many second hand buyers in the $20K range down the road than a $50K Badlands selling in the mid 30’s. More competition in that lower price space will keep the value higher. I also think base buyers will keep their trucks longer, meaning there will be greater scarcity in the lower price range.

I spent a month building different vehicles trying to save money. Finally ended up ordering a BL SAS with the high package. Main thing from the high package was the cameras. The lux wasn't that much more but I hate adaptive cruise so didn't order it as there was nothing really that great in the lux.
I don't buy vehicles hoping it will be worth more at resale.
I am about as frugal as they get and tend to mind F**k everything to death before making a decision. What I have found is that once I spend the money I soon forget what it costs and just enjoy it.
I do the same with tools and toys. I buy name brand tools and don't regret it. 90% of the time I regret HF purchases.
Just ordered a new Polaris Turbo R as well and went with the Ultimate package.
Between the Bronco and Polaris will be out over 100k this year in toys but then again you gotta have some fun

It sounds like you’re tired of waiting and trying to talk yourself into something you think might become available sooner. Maybe I’m wrong there but that’s how your OP reads.

If you can afford the one you have on order, and you’re anything like me, you’ll probably never regret having gadgets and goodies you turn out not to need very often. But if you opt not to get those things, you’ll probably obsess about how much you wish you had them later.

so I say, go as kitted out as you can reasonably afford. Better to have and not need, than need and not have when it comes to off-roading.

Additionally, upgrades and mods don’t increase value, so any coin spent on getting a more base model where you want it later is money you won’t see back in the event you decide to sell later. A more specc’d out OEM build holds a higher resale value later.
