Ran Fish Creek Wash and Sandstone Canyon today. I tested out Baja mode during this run. I noticed Baja mode turns off the turbo chargers. Not sure why. Does anyone have an idea why? Dispute not having the turbos running, baja mode did really well at high speed desert running. Tracked really well, stable and controlled around curves with very loose ground.

I thought the turbos stay on all the time for Baja mode

Baja Mode absolutely DOES NOT turn off the turbo. If it did, you have a problem that needs to be addressed by Ford. To verify this (and have a little fun), I just went out and played with it, I got nearly 20lbs of boost in 2nd before I had to back out of it because I started to go sideways on my driveway... I have a really long gravel drive.

It doesn’t turn off the turbos. But the torque management in general is very anemic. If you watch the boost gauge generally you won’t start building boost until about 2,500-3,000 RPM under mild acceleration. Off the line there is no boost applied at all, mostly all motor until you’re rolling. So cruising in Baja mode that holds gears plus the 4.7 axle ratio you’re really not demanding much torque so I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see 0 boost pressure while maintaining speed with light throttle.

It's ridiculous how much torque management there is in 1st and 2nd. Ford had to neuter the shit out of these things to save that pathetic little 10r60.
