The Green looks stunning under the lot lights. Fingers crossed that PDI goes smoothly and she’s on the road for next weekend

Well, this was the longest four days I've experienced in a long time... Steeltown Ford in Selkirk, MB (can't speak highly enough about them) got a rash of deliveries over the weekend amongst their normally busy schedule, there were 12 vehicles waiting for PDI and three of them were Broncos.

Monday I emptied out the Base Bronco, luckily I ran a clean ship and there was very little to move out.

My man Mitch (shoutout to Shawn too) got in Tuesday and called me up to get an appraisal of the Base - they wanted to try its hand at Auction; it won for MSRP with 20,000kms on the ODO - Broke even after seven months, nice. Got to take the Badlands for a test drive while they looked over the Base - Eruption Green wasn't the only thing Erupting with how hot this ride is. And wow, is the large screen something.

First Fix was also made. The drivers seat failed to slide forwards when you pulled the shoulder lever as if to climb in. I recalled reading a thread a while back where the Molle seat back panel fell straight off and Flip had shared some valuable info on how to install/remove the panel... So off the seat back went, turns out the cable that actuates the slider had popped out of its holder. Thanks @flip for the inadvertent help!

Less than 24 hours, and only 200kms on the odo, the badlands and I headed off to my good wrenchin buddy Jared's place. We started off with the @IAG Performance v1 Steps. Straight forward, no BS, and work as intended... no more need to worry about seat wear while sliding in and out (short leg gang)
Ford Bronco The Boreal Badlands IMG_7456

Still waiting for the car to cool, We tackled the @JcrOffroad Tailgate Table. I broke 3 out of 4 tabs on the "Accessory Ready" plastic vent... hope they don't rattle down the road. Other than that, it went pretty damn smoothly!

The Table install took a good hour considering I did not do any prep reading and I hadn't even cracked open the shipping box. Too peeps make this job much easier than if you were to tackle it solo.

Now that rig was cooled off enough I threw the @MRTperformance Trail Rated Exhaust back on (reclaimed from the Base)... Its sooo nice to hear the revs to shift with, the few days I had with a stock axle back before the Base trade in were not as smooth as months past - its too damn quiet. Glad to have that rumble again!

Ford Bronco The Boreal Badlands IMG_7463

The muffler swap took all of 4 minutes with Jareds exhaust hangar tool... much quicker than my previous 45 minute struggle of laying on my back with a flathead and wd40... fresh hangars are a bitch without the right tools. Continuing on the @MRTperformance trend, Hood gas struts! Again, two people make this job much easier considering we have to unbolt the hood from the hinges.

Finally, the big one... the @Mishimoto Catch Can for the 2.3. For the life of me, I don't know why we don't just hook up to the hose that we remove on the top of the Intake... the instructions are incredibly vague and if it wasn't for @Tanman and his Tips and Tricks, the install would've been mind boggling. There should be a redesign of the Catch Can kit to utilize the factory piping, not everyone wants to pull the fender liner and fight with a completely blind fitting that has a stupid ass proprietary clip. Jared's lift came in real handy for giving us a stable platform to work with. In the end we were victorious and time will tell how effective the Catch Can really is.

Yup, the fitting is in there... behind the rear most UCA mounting point, and up under the intake manifold... Stupid.

Not bad for Day 1. My Kickers all arrived and the SS5's are here too. Hopefully I can find some time next week to get the speakers swapped over!

Till next time, Keep the rubber side down!

Why? Don’t you already have six switches?

same?
The way that I’ve broken up the zone control for the lights have left requiring more switches than available. I originally mapped out something like this:

Aux 1: High Bumper mounted LP9’s - Low Beam

Aux 2: Cowl Mounted Spot Pods

Aux 3: Cowl mounted Ditch pods

Aux 4: Roof Mounted S8

Aux 5: Reverse Pods

Aux 6: Winch

AUXBEAM 1: High Bumper mounted LP9’s - High Beam

AUXBEAM 2: DRL’s - S8, LP9’s, SS3’s? SSC2’s,

AUXBEAM 3: Rock Lamp Interior

AUXBEAM 4: Rock Lamp Engine

AUXBEAM 5: Rock Lamp Exterior

AUXBEAM 6: Oracle Grill Letters

AUXBEAM 7: Spare

AUXBEAM 8: Spare

and the Manual Trans peeps don’t get any of the remote start features through the Ford Key or Ford Pass App… it’s too much of a liability so here we are in 2022 still wiring in brains and antennas as if it’s 2005 😂

Me: I don’t need the big screen. I have one with no screen at all, and two with 8” screens, and those are plenty. I mean how much difference is there really . . .?
Now me: Damnit!!

Yeaaaa, that was my thoughts with the Base... Do I really need anything more?.. Yes, its not just the size but the full High Pack capabilities that make this suite very much worth the upgrade!

GCPA Bolts thrown in, and still haven't had a chance to take the roof of either rig so far. Between the bitterly cold winter, the torrential spring and continuing on as a wet summer, we have hardly had more than two days of good weather at a time

Yes, another Kicker install. The Kicker 46CSC674 (6 ¾" CS) and Kicker 47KSC404 (4" KS - x2 - Dash and Roll Bar), are all installed with no fasteners/clips broken and extremely minimal plastic marring around the Dash Grills... why the hell do these plastic grills need six fasteners, they aren't ever going to go anywhere... I basically needed a crowbar to break them free. Anyways, not to many photos taken along the way as I was in a good groove.

I added some sound deadening to the kick panel speaker and to the rear pod enclosures. Every speaker and the metra adapters got a rear foam gasket to help with potential rattles... not like any of these enclosures are actually sealed or anything. I didn't bother with the 4" speaker harness plugs, it was easy enough to lop off the end and put some blade connectors on. As many have mentioned, 300hz caps were put inline for the dash speakers.

The CS 6 ¾ were picked for the kick panels for their loudness. The KS 4" were picked for their silk tweeters, reducing the metallic harshness of the treble bouncing off the glass. Im tempted to try the for scan mod for the rear pods cause damn, they are pitiful as factory programmed.

Upon first drive, the clarity is night and day compared to stock. Im extremely happy with how vibrant and clean the audio now sounds... however, Its not enough. The @plugnplaykits Key 200.4 kit will be on the shortlist next time they are in stock, that should really bring the sound stage to life... The factory woofer enclosure has been on order for a a few months still with no ETA.

As is, im pumped with the much needed upgrade!

It may only be two doors, but you can fit four quad wheels inside! I am workin on refreshing a 1986 Honda Fourtrax 350, the front disc brake retrofit needed some larger rims to clear the calipers… 36 year old rubber probably isnt the best anyways

I’ve hopped onto the @Mabett Train with the center console tray - this thing is the perfect height for the everyday stuff

Ford Bronco The Boreal Badlands B623CCE5-A3A1-4909-A4E0-8578E8C6F18C

as well as the TPE cover… Bella loves to stand on the center armrest, best to protect it from her claws in the long run

Ford Bronco The Boreal Badlands AFA6AAF9-29A7-4B4B-A76B-6B163668C00E

and finally, a front seat dog cover! No more camp blanket on the seat and considering she’s my passenger more than people, best get a durable cover - even if it’s an Amazon special

Another Mod Day!

Rekgen Front Trophy Flaps - these needed the crash bar window cut out. With some help from pops, I made quick work using an oscillating cut. No instructions made the install somewhat of a game/puzzle. Nevertheless, I was victorious!

Buck Your Bronco Picatinny Rail - straight forward, exactly what I was looking for. I opted for the GoPro mount to use for Timelapse’s or as a trail cam for days in the bush. AND They were cool enough to send it all in a Molle Pouch! Shout out to @Buck Your Bronco. For the record, the pouch fits the seat back perfect, but it does not fit with the wider slats on the JCR tailgate table - not a complaint, just worth mentioning

Got a home for a first aid tear off Molle pouch on the tailgate… the supplies are still enroute

Also in the cards was the @Diode Dynamics SS5 Sport’s. I think I need a stubby antenna or an antenna delete, at worst, I machine up a new light mount. We will see what I do, but for now, they are on! I made my own harness using their pigtails and tied the lights into Aux 2.

Finally, my damn driver seat cabling popped out again. Pulled the seat back off, and tensioned the cable and housing with zip ties. I don’t have time in the schedule to visit the dealer for this so it’ll have to work for now… if it breaks again, I’ll address it with warranty

All in all, a decent wrench session. Now to dial everything in on a cabin trip. LP9’s, SS3 Fogs and the RC winch kit are hopefully up soon
