We did Austin this time last year and loved it. Recommend that you carry plenty of water bottles with you while on the trail. We went through a ton. Coming from VA, we did not realize how dry it was and how much water we needed to drink. Light jacket for sure. TX weather changed drastically from morning until evening and I expect that Vegas will be similar. You will have a blast and learn a ton of new things even if you have your Bronco already. We did not stay in the place they recommended. We stayed a little further away in a Hampton Inn and it was great. We paid less than half of the rate they wanted for Horseshoe Bay. Good thing because we had horrible flight problems and ended up in Dallas. We had to drive 3.5 hours to the hotel instead of 45 minutes from Austin. Got in bed at 3am and back up at 6 to get loaded up and be there by 7:30am. Hotel cost us about $50 per hour... We stuck around and talked to the people that worked there for a long time. Most everybody else in our group took off as soon as it was over. Austin is so different because you never leave the compound. The Bronco never comes out of 4-low. Lunch is there. Dinner is there. Great experience. Maybe people that have done Vegas will have better insight.
Did y'all not get the free Yeti water bottle at the beginning? There were water filling stations all around the trails and walking areas when we did ours this past Sept at Marble Falls.

I went to Vegas and stayed on the strip because where else would one stay plus hit a few (losing) hands of black jack before having a blast at Offroadeo.

I am glad I had alot of music downloaded on my phone. Not sure I could handle off roading without a constant flow of random music.

Volunteer to be the trailing or lead car. Tip the guides like $10 or something.

We went to our Off Roadeo event at Mt. Petosi (Red Rock Canyon outside Las Vegas) in March of this year. We stayed at the "preferred" hotel and yes, it was a little on the pricier side (not horrible) but the location to the event was very good and the facility very nice.

We had to get ourselves to the venue which was about a 20-30 minute drive but for us was no problem since we drove our FJ Cruiser to the event (from SoCal).

Our event was TOP NOTCH!! A well managed overall size group that was broken into 3 highly personalized groups with 2 leaders each. Lots of hands on attention and a full day of driving on the "courses". Plenty of coffee, beverages and snacks galore as well as a light breakfast and a totally unexpected and delicious prepared and served hot lunch (restaurant quality!) AND musical entertainment!!

And one thing we did not expect was the amount of FREE Bronco branded merchandise they handed out. Yeti thermos bottles, mugs, T-shirts as well as a very generous merchandise purchase credit for use in the on-site Bronco Store!! Kind of blown away by the generosity!

Like any organized group event, some of the variables that can contribute to it being an enjoyable or not enjoyable experience are outside of the control of the attendees as well as the organizer. Hope you get as good of a group of people attending like we got and will have the overall positive driving AND attending experience we had.

If you DO have a great, positive experience, be prepared to tip your coaches and leaders. I cannot tell you how appreciative they were when we and almost everyone else did this. Our guides really did contribute to our great day!

So my wife and I did the one in Austin in September and were very impressed. The recommended resort is worth staying at and they will make sure you get over to the Rodeo property (both properties are owned by the same company) Rodeo is leased to Ford. Plenty of food and refreshments are provided with frequent water stops. Food is definitely top-notch with choices for all pallets.

The location is 1.5 hours from the airport - so if you are flying in I would recommend a rental car. The Rodeo is close to wineries and a few small but interesting villages. great experience and you get to see a beautiful Texas Hill county area.

We did, but there were 3 of us and they only gave us 2 YETI's. I did not really notice the filling stations. Maybe there are more now than we had then. We were all excited and exhausted... LOL. Only 2 per "bronco owner". They provided bottles of water. You can never have too much.

Boxed water
that's right... boxed water. I forgot. I really want to go do it again. Mike and Amy Clouds are so awesome and the rest of their team was amazing.

If you're planning on doing any of the other Vegas stuff, recommend stay in one of the strip hotel/casinos and deal with the longer drive once. Rent your own car, even if just for that day. If you stay at Red Rocks, you still have a bit of a drive to the Off Rodeo location, and you would have an even longer drive into the main part of Vegas each time you wanted to do something.

We went to the Nevada Off-Roadeo. As some have mentioned, go mid week. We went on a Wednesday and had 5 total Broncos out in our group, so we got to cover a lot of ground, rarely needing to stop and wait for the group to clear an obstacle.

We drove up from SoCal and camped at Red Rock Canyon Campground a couple nights, and also did the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive and hiked the next day. Went in March so it was great weather. No need to spend hotel money to attend.

I did the Vegas Off-Roadeo last year, no shuttle, had to take an uber there and got a ride back into the strip from another attendee from this forum (hi Rudy!).

The road that it's on is NOT paved and i felt very bad for the uber driver who had to take her recently washed car off-road. I'd try to coordinate with other members here. That being said, the directions they provide are otherwise helpful. When I went, they had water filling stations and just a heads up it gets FREEZING there in the wintertime in the morning/evening. There is also lunch provided and I believe also dinner? I don't know how it is now but I got a $250 credit at the store as well, so make sure to ask if that's still a thing. Also, obviously no bathrooms out on the moutain / trail so make sure you go back at base camp. Enjoy! It was an amazing experience.

My first bit of intel I'd like to christen this thread with is: where to stay.

The events all have a "preferred host" hotel they recommend, but I'm learning this don't mean shit. Yes, you get a bit of a discounted rate. Not a lot, however. And the places tend to be pricey to begin with. Also - I assumed that the reason the hotel was "preferred" was because they would provide transportation to the event from that hotel. Not so. You'll need to rent a car or arrange a cab to get you there and back to your hotel.
For those going to Moab, I would say definitely stay at Red Cliffs lodge (the preferred hotel) because the Off-Rodeo is on site and it being a long day, you want it easy to grab breakfast before leaving and to go back to your room after dinner. The hotel rate was not terrible.

There are only two other places nearby. A very pricey lodge 5 minutes away, or a B&B. Otherwise you have to go back into town which is a 25 minute drive. Doesn't sound like much, but again, when starting early and after a long day of driving, it's just very nice to be at Red Cliffs.

edit: Also, they tell you in the emails to wear long pants. I changed into shorts after seeing others were wearing them and I'm glad I did.

Be aware there is no disclaimer listed concerning pets...pets are not allowed at Off-Rodeo, not even a 7lb Yorkie that seldom leaves my lap.
OF COURSE pets would not be allowed at an event like this. What's the deal with people taking their little damn dogs everywhere these days?
Inside restaurants and stores is ridiculous. I leave my real size dogs at home.

My advice is to get a Bronco as close to the front of the pack as possible. Our trail guides didn’t always wait for the last couple broncos to pull up before they started the next lesson and we missed out. Same with bathroom breaks. We didn’t get as much time to use the facilities as others. We spent the day playing catch up.

the ones we had in NH were really good at keeping the group together and imparting lessons to everyone.
(since i had previous off-road experience i got to be tail-end charlie and sweep up the stragglers)
