Agreed. I'm not down with all the spying bullcrap. Classic vehicles get more appealing to me every year.
Hell, I'm waffling between this and the Jeep

If this has it and the Jeep doesn't...

Good thing the Canadian insurance companies are behind enough they won't be able to take advantage of this.

I'm betting there'll be something clever you can do with ForScan to disable it, regardless. Same story as pulling the OnStar fuse in a GM.

I'm already thinking of pulling the plug on ASS and other "Saaaaaaafety" features

If you get a Jeep with the 8.4, it does the same. I will try to find the article, but the prediction is that auto makes will one day sooner than later make more money off the data it collects and sells from their vehicles than they do selling the actual vehicle. This has been discussed a few times in various Cybersecurity conventions I have attended and spoken at as it is a huge concern.

Alphabet (google) and apple are already doing this to everyone with a smartphone, so why wouldn't the car manufacturers want a piece of the pie? I don't like it either. Free apps aren't free. I'm waiting for the day when all cars have over the air updates that can brick your car in your driveway like a Tesla.

From the article:
"It’ll be “optional” at first – in the sense that you’ll have the option to not do business with the Nationwide and Mutual families of the insurance mafia. But the other families are sure to clamber on board and it’s inevitable that if a new car comes equipped from the factory with the embedded tech to narc you out, the mafia will ree-quire it as a condition of coverage.
Which you can’t opt out of."

That's purely conjecture and a pretty bold leap at that.

I’m a cheap fuck and a safe driver so tbh if they could save me a decent chunk every month I’d probably do it.

It’s 100% optional. You can do it to lower your insurance cost if you so desire. Or not.
More like insurance companies will be charging some customers a fee for not turning over their driving habit data.

Looking at how big Corp gets what ever laws it wants passed through, I see this as a fairly realistic possibility.

You aren't still under the assumption that we are free in America still , are you?
Tell me about all the things you enjoy, want or need that are NOT regulated or controlled by the Gov't in some manner.
