Hey everyone,

New owner to a 2 door Black Diamond here, and I'm looking to get some new wheels and tires. High gas prices are a real thing these days so I'm trying to keep the unsprung wheel/tire weight similar to stock weights.

Anyone have experience with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T tires in B load rating? I've never ran a tire with B rating, only C. This is my daily driver, so lots of city and highway driving during the week, with some weekend trail, camping, and off road park fun.

Any thoughts on this tire (and B load rating) vs any of the other popular choice such as KO2/Nittos/Coopers? Hoping to keep the tire weight under 50lbs for 285/70/17.

Thanks!

Oooo… hoping someone responds.

I was curious about these tires myself, but I think they just launched last year, and they are also on the pricey side, so I betcha not a lot of people have used them yet.

Also curious about the Milestar Patagonia A/T Pro tires. BFG KO2 is my go-to tire, but wouldn’t mind trying something new.

Guess everyone is running E or C rated tires?

SL load tires are fine for street use, but I personally would want a thicker tire for off road use. I do use SL AT tires on a 2wd truck that only see occasional gravel and they work fine. Just don't exceed the weight rating for the tires.

I can't imagine a 4 ply tire being very durable.

I think the stock BD general grabber tires are “SL” too aren’t they? Maybe I’ll use these SL’s for daily driving and throw a set of mud tires on the stock steelies for off-road trips

I’m definitely trying to watch the weight. Coming from a lifted 4runner on 34’s that got 11-13 mpg, the 17-20 I’m getting so far on the BD is a vast improvement. Unfortunately I drive a lot more for work now and the rise in gas prices have come together to cause me to be tire weight and size conscious.
How have the 315’s affected your gas mileage?
