I picked up a 2024 Badlands Sasquatch with high/lix package, 2.7, painted top, etc.

MSRP with destination charge broke $70k. Got it for mid $50s.

Let’s level set here: for the price of entry for a Toyota Landcruiser, I walked away with a far more capable vehicle.

If it’s the vehicle you want, it’s a solid price.

You’re looking for a high/lux badlands sas and you’re quibbling over a few possible thousand you may save? And you already have one for $10-15 off?

I just did a nationwide search through cargurus, there are still new 2023’s waiting for a home. Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for, but if you’re really looking to save money…

Go buy, or even fly and buy, there’s deals out there now. You’re wasting time, you need to schedule your off roadeo…

I think now is actually a pretty good time. I feel like a rube for paying MSRP for my 2024 wildtrak about a year and a half ago now. That's the way it was from '21 to early '24 though. Timing the bottom of the car market is probably no easier than timing the bottom of the stock market. Tariffs could stop the fall of prices or increase them since the bronco, for instance, is only sourced of about 20% US made parts according to the window stickers.
Since there is no 2025 Wildtrak, you did OK

ALL hoss 2.0/bilstein broncos.
Not sure about that. If a Bronco was built after 8/24 (like mine), they are not under recall.
Does that also mean they can sell them?

To the OP,

You're the perfect candidate to buy a used vehicle. Do not buy new. Finding the perfect deal is too important to you.

Using Carvana as a market indicator, the value for a 2023 Badlands with 16k miles is $52,000. Buying brand new for mid $50k seems pretty good, especially if it matches what you want.

If this is an extra vehicle for you, by all means wait and take a gamble. It might pay off. But you'll be missing out on that time with it and you can't get that back. People have different reasons for purchase and you have to know why you want this vehicle and make your own choice. You clearly want the capability for a reason, choosing the badlands.

Outside of collectible cars, vehicles depreciate and make for bad investments. The last thing anyone wants to do is be taken advantage of when buying an expensive vehicle. However, winning on market timing can be as influencing as losing. You won on the last purchase with timing, but reproducing that same thing again involves market timing, and is unlikely to be the same.

I suggest writing down what this purchase means to you and why you want the vehicle and then ask yourself what you would feel if you missed out on it.

Good luck with your decision.

Why do you assume Ford will be buying tariffed steel? Cleveland-Cliffs is a huge American steel supplier to both Ford and GM.
Where the steel that American companies buy from doesn't matter. Since steel from China is off the table anyway and has been for many years, (thank God!). if the price of steel goes up one place, it creates scarcity in the market, thus the price increases; just economics.

Tariffs are always used, both temporarily or long term (cars from China at like 100%), but certain goods are more impactful as they may be more sensitive to price flux. Steel and Aluminum prices shift a bit quickly and impact a lot of industries.

American steel producers also want to sell their goods in the places that have the highest prices, sort of like how American oil isn't in your car. Your car has oil from either Canada or Saudi Arabia. US oil goes to Europe where they can make the most profit.

Economics is complicated; mix in some politics and you've got yourself one spicy dish! :)

Yes.

Mine was built in November 2024, and I purchased it after the recall.

Different shocks.

In my situation I had a Ranger Raptor ordered the day the order banks opened. Based on long wait times I started looking for a Bronco and found a 2024 2 door BD MID SAS package that fit the bill. Negotiated the deal, signed the paperwork and scheduled delivery. Dealer called just prior to delivery and said they had to pull the deal due to the shock recall. Found a BL at a different Dealer with the same situation. They had a WT LUX available (2 door) which was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend. I ended up getting for $6300 under invoice. With the recall it seems to have narrowed inventory until the Q3 repairs are done. I wanted a 2 door 2.7 which MY25 really limits options. Keep looking, deals are out there.

All the possible gains you could make by waiting could just as easily be wiped out by tariffs or inflation.

Im not saying thats certain - just possible. With ‘25s coming very soon prices may move a bit, but i doubt they drop much lower as Ford is starting to cut production.

If you got a quote now and are happy with it and its in your means - then even if the price does drop later just realize you paid so you could have more time to enjoy it, so it wasn't wasted.
I've read some media articles suggesting if you're in the market for a new vehicle in 2025 then buying sooner than later would be prudent with the looming threat of tariffs having a significant impact on the economy and in particular the auto sector.

The CEO of Ford has stated that the tariffs will blow a hole in the American Auto industry.

Just get it now I'd say. As someone pointed out earlier, you'll have more time with it and that's worth something. I paid a ton for my 392 wrangler a few years ago when it was getting better but still bad, and don't regret it a bit. it's the best vehicle i could ever ask for (sorry bronco, I love you too, but you don't have a v8 and sky top).

Anyway, just get it now, don't pay attention to the prices a few months down the road and just assume you got the best deal you could have gotten.
