  • nearly 30% better fuel economy
    • "And it's a pretty big difference: the stick-shift Badlands gets 22 mpg highway,
    • compared to 17 with the automatic.
I want this to be true, but it doesn't seem to be supported anywhere...

Those MPG figures are a lot different than the BN published numbers. Who's right?

They have at least one factual error:
"But the Badlands doesn't get the Sasquatch's gearing upgrade. You'll be stuck with 4.46 axle gears in a stick-shift Badlands,"

Wrong. Manual badlands gets 4.7. Auto badlands gets the 4.46.

Yes, snapped a picture of the manual option and when you get auto it picks out the other axle.

I’m thinking about switching from the 2.7L to the 2.3L MT.

Lucky you OP, I was there and they knew I ordered a manual, but all I got to drive was the 2.3L Badlands auto. As I only drove it off-road, I had no problems with auto, it held gears in 4l for a long time and I never needed to downshift it manually.

I by no means will switch to the automatic, the manual is what swayed me to get the Bronco and use as my daily driver and quick weekend getaway. My diesel Bison will be my long tourer. Every time I drive an auto and don't get me started on the CVT in my Outback, I miss driving a manual, thank god the miata is in the garage when I need it.

I just got back from the Austin off-rodeo and I got to drive a manual 4 door Bronco. I was very impressed with the way it drove and handled going over rocks and up/down hills. Once it got rolling, I never touched the clutch again. It drove like an automatic on the trail. Crawl and 1st gear have lots of torque and was easy to drive on the trail. Didn’t kill it or come close to killing it at all. No regrets ordering the manual
Thanks for posting the manual review. Did you have occasion to try the parking brake?

Yes. There’s not a pedal. It’s located where the parking break release normally would be. Left hand side about knee level. Push it in to apply and pull it pull it up to release. Not a button or a switch, honestly, I felt like I was popping the hood using it. In the Instrument panel when applied or released a window pops up to tell you it’s applied or released.
