Sorry, I revised and edited my answer. More towards the inner as seen in this pic. The jamnut probably does add some strength to the section immediately after it.

Got it .... so here's a silly question: instead of a threaded sleeve, can you put on 3 or 4 jam nuts on there back to back? wouldn't that do the same thing as the sleeve?

Full disclosure: I don’t really have a frame of reference for the pros and cons to any of these as I’m pretty new to all this. Feel free to add to the list with other options and discuss these options as there’s a wide price delta between the cheaper options and the more expensive ones.
Be mindful of sleeve clearance if you are running aftermarket coilovers...

Not sure if it would make a difference in that situation but the Broncbuster brace does have a cutout/low profile side for that.

seems like in this situation a bolted on brace will most likely have major interference

Hadn't seen the kid chaos option. Might go that route vs broncbuster to save some money. Though I have a spare tie rod on hand so maybe gambling with no brace until a big sale is the best call. Would love the heavy duty Ford upgrade one day.

FWIW, Broncobuster is on sale for the next 3 days using coupon code RUBI. It is 25% off ($100 savings). That coupon code can be used for any of their products.

I was going to go with Chaos but now I'm torn. Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the two?

Thanks, didn't know! Anyone know if the bushing is worth if for sasquatch if we don't plan to do any lifts or go any bigger in tire size?

If you are one of the several non lifted sasquatch owners with 35 inch tires and you bust out your steering rack would you at that point pay $350 to not have the problem?

This issue is greater for lifted and larger tire Broncos. But it has happened to other just less frequently. They are expensive for what they are.....but maybe not real expensive for what they can do. Especially if they help to never have a problem.

The next post may say that they could move the problem further up the chain and cause even more troubles. So it really is weighing the options and making a decision.

I ordered the tie rods that are on the Hoss 3.0 as well as the Raptor. Hoping this will mitigate any issues and will probably install the heavy duty rack and pinion once they get the calibration / programming down.

So silly newbie question - I have a stock OBX and no off road experience. It will see forest service and gravel roads and maybe the occasional trails that its 32” tires and stock clearance can handle.

How much concern should I have over the tie-rod “situation”? I hear all the talk about the weak tie-rods, just don’t have enough info to put it in perspective for my case.

Non-lifted sasquatch on stock tires here, plan on staying that way for the foreseeable future. I'm not too experienced with off-road upgrades but skeptical about this one. A few questions worth asking if you or others here will humor me:
  • Probability of failure: I know we've heard of some stock setups fail, but do we know with any kind of certainty how often this happens and under what conditions? if it's just a few anomalies, that doesn't sound like a compelling reason for a $400 upgrade that can mitigate but not guarantee not having issues, especially if the install requires an alignment.
  • Following up on that, does a brace that bolts on either side like the broncbuster require an alignment, or is that only for sleeves that require detaching the tie rod (e.g., looks like rough country needs that)? Assuming the braces like broncbuster wouldn't require detaching the tie rod for install.
  • Has anyone installed one of these products and had the tie rods break anyway?
  • Are there any benefits to upgrading to the HOSS 3.0 factory option beyond the 30% stronger tie rods?

for future lookup what they are presently.

Level up $70
Jks $55
RC $45
Kid $250
BroncoBuster $400
If you are not planning any extreme off roading any of the under 100$ ones sound like good insurance every bronco can afford.

Yes, come as a pair for the braces. Single steering bushing, installs driver side.
Like I said...I am dumb to the front end. Both pairs go on the driver's side. None on the passenger side. Thanks. (I assume they send install directions). Thanks
