What type of tire chains do people use in PNW on their Broncos in case of ice emergency or Oregon state requirements? The bronco 4H does amazing on snowy highways but we had a scare on very icy roads in Bend last year and want to be ready just in case this winter. I have a 2022 Badlands with 285/70/17 size tires. In the manual it says to only use on the rear tires AND in the warning section it also says to USE ON BOTH front and back tires. I've measured and talked to a tire chain specialist - it appears Class S chains will fit just fine on the rear tires.

I use these on the big trucks when the ice comes out. Our property gains 1000' in 3/4 mile, all unmaintained dirt road. They help immensely. I've not bought any for the Bronco yet.

I have some similar diamond chains with studs built into them for the ATV that bite HARD. Work great in the ice and packed snow. I can't remember the brand though.

I’ve not seen anyone run chains on pavement except as required for commercial trucks.
I’ve only used chains on dirt roads.
It’s always been my thought that if you’re slipping around you need to slow down. If your living in an area this is common get snow tires mounted for the winter months, they can be studied if needed.
I had winter tires for 2wd vehicles when I lived in CO and frequented the mountains in winter often. 4wd and AWD were fine with good quality all season tires.
Slow down, sometimes even the 75 mph interstate becomes a 25mph road due to winter conditions.

I have a set of "disposable" through-rim style snow straps that I keep under the seat just to make the CHP happy. But if I ever had to use them, they wouldn't do much good.

They fit my KMC rims fine with 35x12.5s, but the Stock SAS rims with 315x70s the slots in the rims ride up higher and they are ~just~ long enough to look like they would fit but can't quite get them to latch.

I have ones similar to what @HighVelocity linked for my tractor when I plow, and those will grip well. They will also tear up asphalt and concrete well. You only want them if you really need them, but you'll know when that is.

Snow socks are another option. I've never used them myself, but I have looked into them. They seem to perform quite well.

They are light, easy to apply and don't take up much storage room.

I'm probably going to pick up a set for the spousal units' Suburban.

Thanks for the replies! Let me know if you do buy for the Bronco...and based on manual for the Badlands - would you just use on the rear tires only?
