I'm thinking TPMS won't tell you which tire is low, only that one (or more) is? I hope that is the case anyways. I think 5 tire rotation sound like the thing to do. Great question OP.

Ok is not what I'm looking for. I love snow tires. Hardpacked snow, that turns to glacier ice, on the roads at -30 that stays for months isn't the same as PNW snow. I much prefer having two sets. Not so much for the going but more for the stopping and staying in a straight line.

But yeah. Definitely leaning towards four winters.

Don’t over think it. The TPMS system doesn’t care what tire was where (just did a rotation or replaced a flat). It doesn’t care if it is a left wheel that was moved to the right side. There is no set up. It is a system that simply reads the psi.

It only knows what the pressure is 6 inches away from the sensor at that axle. It doesn’t remember what wheel the sensor read for the last six months or the last six hours. It simply reads psi and shows it to you and alerts if the psi falls below a threshold.
Well that sucks, at least mine tells me which tire is leaking, low, flat, or is too hot. So if the system tells you 'Low tire pressure' you have to check all five?? That's low tech.

In that case we go back to my original post about the system having to be reset after a tire rotation, or it won't know where you placed them, unless the thing has radar :)

Always better to rotate all 5. Some ppl let that spare just chill for years (tire life 3-5 years) it's also not good on it. It can dry rot just from sitting. A lot of ppl think they save money by rotating just the four so when they buy tires save on one tire..so they never ever even use the spare. So it just sits never used. Also bad thing if it's never needed then need it and it's crap.

So yup better rotate in the spare to keep that tire healthy!!

This isn't uniformly true. Nissan Trucks don't put a TPMS senor in the spare. Further, the TPMS system only reads 4 sensors. So to do a 5 wheel rotation you have to either reprogram the system for the sensors on the ground or live with the system blinking at you every time you start the vehicle. Most people in the Nissan 4x4 community just deal with the blinking.

I hope the bronco has one in every wheel.
If you read the Dealer guide you would see this.

I'm not a mechanic, so be kind! But if the sensing units are on the end of the axles and receiving signals from adjacent tire.... It's merely reporting the tire nearby.?

For sure I'd rotate the spare in, you'll extend your miles for the whole set.

The TPMS sensors are usually in the wheel well and will read each tire independently. It doesn't matter which tire is where or if the spare is being used.

One thing I haven't seen that it is recommended to keep the wear on your spare within 3/32" (most manufactures have their #, this is for a Jeep) of the other tires. Worn down tires with a brand new spare on the same axle will be rotating at different speeds (different circumferences). Same goes with tire pressures. However small it can affect the wear of the axles and could mess with stuff like Sport Trac or 4 auto modes.

Only if you don't have the 360Âș view from the high package, or it will throw it off.
I don’t want any of that jazz. Less tech the better. Base / Badlands / 2.7 / hardtop / Sasquatch is my rough plan.

It will be possible to move it. I relocated the camera on my Tacoma twice.

Rotate only 4,
Save the 5th tire for emergencies
I would treat the 5th wheel as an accessorie
U don’t want an old, dirty tire where everyone would see from the back
Tire cover with hole in the middle...

This is how it works on the Jeep. All four corners report and sync after a mile or so when rotated.
