this is the tire chart published by discount tire for air pressure when changing tire sizes.

it accounts for load range type, original tire pressure, etc

it provides a good starting point

Did a chalk test on the tires. Dropped the psi to 34. Didn’t chalk completely even yet but it did feel a little better on a short freeway test ride up to 70mph.

Still waiting on getting that alignment. Also debating if I should’ve went 285/75/17 for a slightly wider tire too.

But thanks for the help everyone. Appreciate it! Few more pics just because.

Probably should have gone wider on 9 inch wheels. It’s just an odd mix to go wide on wheel and narrow on tire. That tire probably rides best on 7.5-8 inch rims.

I run 285/75R17 C rated Toyo OCAT3 at 36 psi on a 17x8.5 Method wheel with +35mm offset. Mine drives just like stock with the 285/70 BFG’s. I haven’t added the leveling kit yet, but my next stop will be the alignment shop.

I’m pleased with the tires, but they do have a slight hum at 70 mph. I’m hoping that goes away as they break in.
can you share a couple photos of your set up please. Thanks!

using the numbers from the discount tire chart (and a bit of matlab),
going from the standard black diamond tire size of LT265/70R17/C /Load Index of 112 (39 psi) yields an OE load of ~2075. (seems like a pretty high load for each tire)

for the TOYO 34"x10.5" Toyo AT3 D Load Index 120, the closest match falls between 35 and 36 psi.

Is the badlands slightly higher than a base/black Diamond? I think I might try your size. Americas tire is going to let me do a swap out.

Those Kenda’s look pretty good. I couldn’t find any weight specs on their website tho.

Badlands is ~.4” taller than the other trims. The 285/75R17 will fit any trim from what others have posted.

The Kenda’s are on the heavy side, 66.62# per tire according to the rep at Kenda who responded to my inquiry. The Toyo’s in 285/75R17 are still heavy at 59# each compared to the 51# BFG’s that came on mine.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not worried about it not fitting. I'm running slim crash bars already. Your wheel gap just looked larger than what I currently have on my bronco so I was curious. Could've been an optical illusion, but thanks for the info!
