even then - a tire swing out would still suck if you wanted to actually use the tailgate - especially to bring large cargo like plywood. Can't drive around with a tire in the open position. What would be cool would be an option to mount the tire under the vehicle for cargo and utility purposes and relocate it back when going offroad.
That would be fine if you want the departure angle of a Gladiator.

As far as the hinge differences... To me, the still from the commercial has black bolts on the hinge where the pic from today has painted bolts.

That's throwing me off a bit

The hinges are exactly the same. There are some illusions with the picture from the video but the horizontal recess is the same and the hinge is the same.
Was just about to say this.
They are definitely the same, the shadow is playing tricks on your eyes. Possibly the CGI/image enhancements also. The bright area above the hing which looks like a bracket protruding is just the flat recess in the sheet metal and the "shadow" is actually the top surface of the hinge itself.

It's definitely the same hinge. If you look closely at the non-enhanced video still shot, you can see the pin and hinge where it should be. The blown up image makes the lines too rasterized to make out.

Long muffler starts just under license plate, exit would be on passenger side, just under bumper, probably cut shorter on this? Or done on purpose to maintain exit angle!!
like the supermodels without belly buttons.

Here's the best I can do to show what I mean about the hinge being the same and the shadows playing tricks.
I drew lines to follow the sheet metal lines where they go behind the tire in the IG post. Then the same lines on the video still. The area between the lines is just body panel, not a bracket.

Here I tried to outline the hinge to make the lines more apparent:

There is zero evidence of this being a dual gate. It would have to hinge at the very bottom and would not work as long as the tire is there. It may be removable but I don't see any way it could drop.

To me it says.... Tire swings out, and TAILGATE drops!
Based on how the tire fits 'into' the bumper cut out, no way there is a tailgate that can be used with the tire on unless the bumper drops, or the tire swings down to make a large table leg in support of the tailgate. How trick would that second option be though!

Shadows brought up...

does the rear bumper looks plastic to anyone or is it my imagination?
or maybe a plastic cover attached to a metal bar...?
