Right? Why can't we just get power seats? If they can be heated why not power....
I'm guessing it's because probably the connectors are closer to the floor, combined with other components of the power seat, motor, etc, that they don't want to corrode over time if exposed to water from people washing out their floors. In a years time of washing out, the seats wouldn't work.

Because a weatherproof connection to a heating element way up into the seat is a whole different ballgame compared to motors mounted down low on the seat tracks...

Regular seat motors have holes in the ends for air cooling and the shafts don't have waterproof seals.

ETA: doh! Just got what you were getting at. ?

can we get the OBX model on a beach to see how much "tail" it attracts...missing this key market research figure.

If the dash wasn't water resistant, the vehicle would short out the first time it got caught topless in a down burst.

And, NO, getting caught in the rain with a convertible and hosing the seats down with a garden hose, which flows gallons per minute, are not the same thing.

I used to live in south Florida.
Been in real downpours.
