Got to the dealer around 11 this morning, drove home with my new toy today at 4 pm..Love it so far, already put over 90 miles on it.. Going to start buying aftermarket goodies for it tomorrow.. My first off road trip is already Scheduled for April 15th at AOAA park in Pennsylvania.. Definitely need to get it t paint coated before then… Only bummer was having a 740 score which they said was tier 1 and getting a rate at 8%.. If they ever drop I will definitely refinance..

Thanks for the advice my friend.. They tried talking me into a Zurich coating? They told me it was better than ceramic coating? I turned that down not hearing of it before…

The only difference between those expensive ceramic coatings and the spray on one I mentioned is that they do last longer but also do require maintenance. They do NOT protect the paint from scratches or water spots.

The spray on ones (I think the easiest and longest lasting is the Griots 3 in 1) last a few months and all you do is take the time to spray some back on and you're good to go for another few months.

My best advice for keeping your paint nice is:

Keep it protected using a spray ceramic wax. When washing, use a two bucket method (look it up on youtube). Never wash in full sun as your hose water has minerals and will instantly leave water spots on your paint due to the hot sun. Don't hose down your car for no reason unless you're actually washing it because that will leave water spots. Don't park next to sprinklers as those will leave water spots as well. Rain water is fine to dry on your paint because it doesn't contain the hard minerals that hose water has. Use a microfiber mit (never use brushes on your paint). Only wipe from front to back in straight lines so if you do happen to introduce very light "swirls" they are only straight lines rather than the crazy swirl marks you see on badly washed cars. Use a leaf blower to dry the car so you touch the paint less. Don't wipe the car down if it's dusty even if you use a microfiber and detailer spray as it's just better to wait for an actual safer wash.

AND....never ever use drive through car washes.

Sorry if that's a rambling mess. Just typed it all up quickly before bed, lol.

I hope some of the 5 hours you spent at the dealer was time the dealer took to detail it before delivery. That driver's floor is a mess. And don't even get me started on Badlands as two words. LOL.

Seriously though, nice ride. Congrats OP.

Nice truck and good luck.

I went with PPF on nose (18” deep), headlight lenses, windshield frame and rockers, and front mud flaps. That should keep stone chips to a minimum.

Enjoy.

Also applied some PPF to painted door sills, but there are other options for that.

I read somewhere that rates would probably be dropping later this year. With good credit 8% is ridiculous, no wonder lots are filling back up again.

Congrats
Definitely get some mud flaps, I bought mabett and am very happy.
I would also treat the underside and frame with some sort protection, some people here use fluid film there are others also like a permanent one is Eastwood internal frame protection.
+1 on the ppf and I would also get a bug shield to slow down rock chips on hood or windshield.
If you have a credit union see what they can do.

Guess I will stop at my Local credit union this month sometime.. I thought with a 740 I could do better… Dealer finance.. Sure they are getting some kind of kick back on the rate somehow… I would be happy at these times under 5%..
