I have a scratch on my front bumper from a rock that is down to the metal. Starting to see some hints of rust forming on it. Does anyone have any idea what the touch up paint color is to match it? I went to my local Ford dealer and they had no idea / suggestions.

Isn't it powdercoated? I'm not certain you can just touch it up like paint, but what do I know...

surely there must be a better solution than spraying it with a rattle can. 🙄 If people are going to take them off road, they definitely are going to pick up some scuffs and scratches. In my case it was a rock from a semi pinging off of it.

I just was hoping to avoid having to take a piece off to bring into a paint shop for color analysis.

Spray the can onto some cardboard and use a very small touch up paint brush. I use flat black rust oleum. It is a close enough match if you use a very small brush. I would try a satin or flat and see what matches better.

When I still had my Tacoma every spring I would throughly clean and rattle can pretty much the entire underbelly, sliders, skids & bumpers. It sounds cheap, and it is, but honestly works very well and if you take your time it looks great. Cardboard trick mentioned above is one of the easiest & fastest ways to mask, it’s what I do to keep any overspray off the body. Plus, it’s just going to get scratched up again. So…rattle it is.

It did ok'ish. Definitely far from perfect, but the color is close enough that nobody has ever noticed. i probably could wetsand it to get things a bit closer, but it hasn't been a priority.
