Ironically I wonder if that's why you can't get the tow package with the base... Cuz it's not compatible with normal lights :p
Up to Black Diamond have halogen and you can get tow on them.

Does anyone know if you don’t get the tow package is the wiring still there so that you can add a beefier hitch after the fact.
That’s what I want to know!

One tiny picture will show why the tow rating is so low.

I think I'll go aftermarket and with a steel bumper with hitch.
I agree…. All the current options are way overpriced and they didn’t incorporate the hitch in the bumper 🙄.

I dunno about the wiring, but the bolt holes are in the crossmember.
I put a Rough Country on there for ~ $100.
And I didn't hafta remove the bumper.

I've been dealing with that for several months and can't get an answer. If the wiring is run Ford refuses to disclose it I have
talked to them twice and several dealers.

Is there enough room for locking hitch pin? Looks pretty tight.
Only locks that are at 90° can fit, and it’s still tight. These work nicely and are stainless. https://amzn.to/3OuCWZ9
The hitch extender also works well to get a boat coupler out behind the spare tire.

There is only some parts of the wiring in place with the basic vehicle wiring harness. The class III rating won't change even if you get a "beefier" aftermarket receiver. That's due to frame, transmission, wheel base, and other vehicle considerations. I have a detailed post with video here: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/adding-a-7-pin-factory-wiring-harness.77345/post-2148319
