Wow....so glad I held until my guns and stuck with the tow package...of course I got mine at the end of 2022 where the only thing I didn't get was the temps in the dials.

Now I couldn't even order the Bronco with the same options...can the world's supply chain still be this messed up?

My dealer quoted me $1400 to install the hitch and wiring for parts/labor.

He said it was more because it wasn’t ordered as DIO.

Flip will this be more of a pre-wired plug and play where the wires are run up front for the dealership just has to plug a harness in the rear? Or will the dealer be disassembling trim panels themselves to route the wiring from the rear all the way to the front? You link doesn't work for us mere mortals.

I haven't seen the "official" install instructions for 2024. BUT I was at the dealer to look at a 2024 Big Bend, and the service tech at my dealer told me the trim panels themselves had to be torn out. Specifically the rear driver side trim panel in the cargo area. But it sounds like the wiring harness was already there, so compared to previous model years that require you cutting into and adding pins to existing wiring harnesses, it's not too bad.

Edit: This was on a 2-Door, but I imagine 4-door is very similar. I know in previous model years the tow module was located in the same spot and I don't see why Ford would have moved them.

Isn't part number quoted VP2DZ-15A416-B, the lumen 4/ 7 pin kit?
Ie, you still have to run the wires up to the connectors in the drivers wheel well.

Which never made sense to me, because the tow module (in rear cargo panel) creates most of those wires that go to back to the hitch.

A lot of extra wire going back and forth in my opinion.

I'm not sure if it was after the initial delivery of vehicles but I had a day 1 reservation, recieved mine in Dec of 2021, and the tow package was already on it from the factory, was never charged by the dealer for installing.

VP2DZ-15A416-A is the lumen 4/7-pin kit that's used to retrofit 2021-2023 model year Broncos.

This DIO part is VP2DZ-15A416-B.

I promise I don’t try and do it, but it is hilarious how it keeps happening lol
By all means, keep doing it. You do this whole auto technician stuff for a living.

I'm just a washed-up parts counter employee-turned-keyboard warrior who stayed out of the automotive industry because I hung around too many old grumpy techs that told me to stay away. Someone has to call out the parts counter guy when he is wrong. ;)

Well I certainly wouldn’t say “washed-up”. Your information and knowledge is always on point here, and much better than most parts guys I’ve ever worked with.
