Towing in 2024 Big Bend

I have found many dealers do not know anything about 2024 Bronco tow accessories. I am working with a dealer where I am buying a new Bronco. Their installation department told me there is no Ford tow package parts for the Bronco and they have to install all after market parts and all the wiring. I informed them the Bronco has most of the wiring already installed from the factory. They firmly denied that. I told them I would give them the part numbers they could order from Ford. I was also told there is no module for it and no software upgrade.

I lost confidence in them for the install. Shortly after that my sales lady (very nice lady) called me and said to forget everything their installer told me. She had found all the part numbers and knew what needed to be done.

I am still going to buy their 2024 Bronco Badlands because they have a very good deal on it. I just told her that I am going to hold off on having the tow package installed for now.

I am considering installing a LOD rear off-road bumper that has the receiver integrated in it. I just need to make sure I can get the module and everything without having to buy the complete Ford towing package. I know Ford does not have a brake controller but I would like to keep everything I can OEM if possible.

That controller comes with the kit I included in my link. The harness I installed is fully functional for a 4 pin system. Brakes, lights and turn signals. I can't see why you would need a 7 pin system with a vehicle that can only tow 3500lbs unless maybe you want reverse lights. You don't need it for electric brakes since the load is so small.

I have the Curt 4 wire kit and would generally agree with you. I do wish the current Ford set up was a thing in '21, it'd be nice to get factory plug and play.

I agree brakes may not be required under 3500 but might be nice and many small trailers come with them anyway. With a camping trailer most have a charge line for the battery which is also nice.

Curt makes a 4 to 7 wire adapter plug I may install some day. Just need a power wire (which I ran to the back anyway) and any brake wires needed.

I have a 21 Wildtrack 2dr. It had factory installed tow package. When I asked the dealer about electric brakes they told me there was only 5 wires in the harness and pulled up a ford wiring schematic that showed 5 wires. I went to U-haul to get an electric brake controller
They tried to sell me a wireless system that ran off a phone app. They had the same wiring diagram that ford had. I went home got under the truck and there were 7 wires on the connector. The plug for the brake controller is right above the gas pedal. My rv guys took care of it. About a 20 min job for the brake controller. All the wiring was in place from the factory. It is a 21 though...just dropped this to let people know. Two dealerships didn't have a clue!

Terrible. Just terrible. I had the dealership add trailer tow. I’m holding off taking it back for corrections until I track down the installation illustrations and I review the instructions on PTS (assuming they are available). I was aware everything was prewired and anticipated the lighting module would be installed and on-vehicle OM would be updated. What a terribly executed plan, pulling the installation from the factory to the dealerships.

I figured it out… without the help from 2 dealerships. In fact… they both gave me incorrect information that would have cost me +$500. All the wiring is there and intact, I needed to purchase the trailer module that comes in the;
Trailer Hitch Wiring Harness – 4 / 7 Pin by Lumen - Part Number: VP2DZ15A416A

Installed behind the driver side rear quarter panel and now 4 pin and 7 pin register with my testers. The website told me it wouldn’t work with my 2024 Big Bend so buyer beware.

Also… be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal before plugging the module in.

got mine is as well and the tailer lights are working as they should. Dealers around me also had no idea how to do it lol
