Trail Militia is going there: 74Weld vs Werewolf Portals

@TrailMilitia_George has started a journey where he and another similar 2dr are going to compare and contrast 74Weld and Werewolf portals for your viewing pleasure.

(There's also a 4dr that has Tibus already that will be included here and there, I suppose.)

Last I had heard, Werewolf wasn't importing due to the war, so it's interesting to see them and that they got their hands on a set. They certainly have that Eastern European/Russian just-the-facts-ma'am approach to engineering going on.

I gotta say, the Werewolf look nice and the boxing is top notch. 74Weld looks... not so great on the boxing. They just look kinda thrown in a box.

I saw the packaging and thought it looked pretty shoddy as well. If I remember correctly I think ours came in a wooden box on a pallet but maybe I’m confusing them with our Ultimate FDU.

Did you notice that where the Werewolf ties in to the UCA that it is offset rather than going straight in? Curious if that is to provide some kind of leverage advantage to help out the steering rack. Or maybe it’s nothing.

RE: Packaging. I remember when MORR showed them for Jeffe's Bronco, they were on a pallet, but didn't think the boxes looked like that (it didn't look great at all). I wouldn't expect those nice crates Werewolf sent, but geez something better looking than what TM shows.

I guess I've not seen the Werewolf before; that looks nice and simple. I wonder how much difference in weight they are? And those crates are badazz.

I’ve wheeled with a couple guys that have them. I can’t remember off the top of my head but they’re certainly not light, especially the fronts. I want to say around 120 pounds a piece. I know @5GENIDN weighed his 74W portals before he installed them.

Correction, at least for the Werewolf toyota/lexus portals up front-100 pounds according to the owner.

Mine were all on a pallet and wrapped in saran wrap.... boxes were unmolested and inside spray foam around every part....

That sounds right. I don’t recall having any problems with the way mine were packaged. Everything seemed protected and safe.

Got to admit.... TMs packaging looked beat.... Did not look good. Not on a pallet. no saran wrap. boxes obviously damaged.... different shipping company? removed from pallet?

Maybe being a delivery within California they didn’t package it as thoroughly. Then the delivery guy said “eff these heavy ass boxes. Over this shit”

Surprised our delivery guys haven’t given up. But I do always help them when I see them pull up
