@Bestop_Team Do you think this half roof rack would cause damage to the 2 door sunrider? I think a lot of us would love to have an option to roll a rack and a sunrider.
@Trees Looking at your pictures, I don't think it would cause damage to the Sunrider for Hardtop, however I don't think it would allow the top to lay as back/flat as its supposed to? I'm not sure if there are plans or even talk about making a rack that works with the Sunrider for Hardtop but I will definitely share that with the team in our meeting tomorrow morning!

Curious if any has mounted lights off the back of their rack. If so, how did you run your wiring?

We have done it on @fronc for SEMA and we ran the lights between the rear portion of the hardtop and the middle panel, still seals just fine. If you want a better solution, it would be drilling a hole through your rear portion of the hardtop, then sealing it with a grommet and sealing it with Sikaflex 221 black then adding a male and female connector after the seal inside your vehicle so that if you want to remove the hardtop, you can disconnect the lights.

just ordered a Rack for my 2-door.

I have never used a roof rack before, what is the best method to anchor something like a Thule or Yakima ”pod” to the rack?

Hey, great question. Those pods will be able to mount directly onto our roof rack! If you have more questions regarding your build you can always email us at [email protected] and we can get back to you faster!

I have the Trailrax roof rack installed using all 7 crossbars, as well as the Heretic Studio light bar.
Pros:
Solid rack
Looks good
Addition of the lightbar looks good and delivers excellent lighting

Cons:
Edges of the rack chip quite easily. I'm not sure how well it will hold up to heavy use when loading and unloading cargo. **Note: I contacted Trailrax and their solution "paint it", not really what I wanted to hear.

This rack rattles/squeeks constantly. Rack is mounted 100% per instructions. All bolts/nuts are properly tightened with as required thread lock.

Unfortunately this %$@*& noise is right above the drivers position so when moving at slower speeds, say 30mph or so I can't get the sound out of my head. Unfortunately the sound system in my OBX (non B&O) sucks so I don't turn it up all that much.

If anyone else or better yet Trailrax has a solution I'm all for trying your fix. I do have two sets of Malone J style kayak racks attached and when weighed down with our 2 kayaks the sound rattle goes away.

Hey,

Can you send pictures of the area in concern for the noise? we might be able to find the solution via the pictures.

I'm not having squeaks or rattle noises with my full-length TRMR, but I noticed the wind noise increased considerably. I think it's the PakRax, but I need to sit n the back while somebody else drives to investigate.

What equipment do you have mounted onto the roof rack?

Right now, nothing. On my Badlands/Sas/4DR/MIC Hardtop, I have the full-length TRMR with light cutout on the deflector and the 40-inch Heretic array. Then, just the rack to the rear and the PakRax.

As you might have noticed on my posts, I prefer a clean look and avoid attaching permanent devises and gear: thus, my solution of permanent T-nuts n the slots so I can secure cargo & gear only when I need it. On that: so far, so good. I'll try to get around to sharing some images with you.

But the wind noise increased significantly the day I did the TRMR install. I consider this a "First World Problem," so I live with it and just turn the radio up louder. Incidentally, I've driven semis in my younger days (76 now), and always figured noise was just an occupational issue.

With nothing in the cut out and leaving the rack open, the wind will hit the cross bar behind it creating more wind noise, once you get the bar in, that should solve your increased wind noise issue.

The lightbar is installed (and works fine--great product), and all the crossbars are installed. Noisy.
