Hi Ian. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.
I have similar issue where my 2021 Wildtrak when in garage overnight and start it and shift from park to reverse and it doesn't engage and is in pseudo neutral state, engine revs but doesn't shift into reverse. Truck is at dealership for 2nd time hopefully fully diagnosing issue and resolving it. I miss my bronco!

I have a VERY similar issue in that overnight park, then first start shift to reverse and feels like neutral. Complete Flat garage floor and no creep or roll at all. Give a little gas and finally it will ā€œjumpā€ into reverse. @Ford help?

It appears that I might be having the same issue as I noticed a loud clunk in my 23 BL when shifting from Park to Reverse.

Has anyone here had experience with swapping out their transmission? How did it go? Did you go for a brand new one, or did you find a good deal on a used model? I'm curious to hear what's worked best for you all.
The majority of Broncos are likely still under warranty. So they would probably get rebuilt by a dealer or replaced with a brand new one.

Following this. Mine has been acting erratic usually slow speeds it lurches and shifts weird. Asked them to clear the transmission module. It was driving smooth like I remember for 2 days then went back to these bad habits. So your saying there is something else they can do after clearing the module to re-train it so it keeps riding smooth?

Has anyone had the "pseudo neutral" issue from cold start figured out? Mine just started doing this.

I literally just took my Bronco back to the Ford dealer because it was doing the same thing again about 4 weeks ago. The weird downshifting issue hasnā€™t come back, but they ā€œretrainedā€ the module and it was smooth as butter for a week or so and now itā€™s happening again sporadically. If I let the engine warm up, it seems like it doesnā€™t happen at all.

To answer your question, no it does not seem to be fully resolved. This is the second time Iā€™ve taken it in and over several weeks it slowly seems to come back.

Hi Erick! I can look into your Bronco's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?

@Ford Motor Company your constant invitation to the tech support phone rodeo are about pointless.

Everyone, don't be fooled into playing this game with @Ford Motor Company, listen to people like @Ducati1098, who actually have a clue and can really help you.

@Ford Motor Company, do better, @Ducati1098 did more to help in one post than you have with your multiple spam posts throughout this discussion.

After a cold soak, the transmission fluid can drain out of the torque converter.
When this happens, the first engagement when cold can be slightly delayed and can also feel like it's in neutral, until it has time to fill the converter again.
There is no repair for this, Ford considers this a normal characteristic of the transmission. Some seem worse than others which may be attributed to debris in the valve body or potentially other things.

Either way, I would just bring it to your dealer and have them try and duplicate it. There is a very common TSB for various 10 speed shifting concerns that they should perform that may help with the issue.

The SSM I listed earlier in this thread has been replaced and this is now the latest TSB:

Iā€™ve got a ā€˜23 Badsquatch with 4,500 miles that started having these same shifting issues being discussed here. Dealer performed the 24-2138 TSB, but it did not correct the problem, so they replaced the valve body. Was told I need to drive it for ā€œa few drive cycles,ā€ basically 400-500 miles until the transmission relearns itself. Iā€™ve only driven about 200 miles since the service, but Iā€™m still experiencing the transmission acting up with hard downshift, cold start reverse, and since I got it back, thereā€™s now a delay shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Weā€™ll see what this relearning may do over the next 300 miles or so, but Iā€™m not convinced it will all be corrected. Iā€™ll report back.
