Friend wanted to do the Jeep badge trails so I decided to join him.
- Jeep on 37's, 4 in lift, and tons of other goodies.
- Stock Bronco Sasquatch
Bronco did well, we got through both trails. I don't recommend it for anyone with a stock sasquatch bronco unless you are ok with getting scratches and using all of your skid plates.
We did John Bull first and that was a hard one, but we were able to make our way. I did high center the bronco on one of the obstacles and it took us about an hour to get out, that was the only real issue we had. The trail is narrow so I got plenty of love marks from the branches. We didn't see anyone else on the trail.
The next day we did Holcomb creek and that seemed easier than John Bull except we did it backwards and did the hard gatekeeper going backwards. There were others on the trail and they definitely helped us maneuver through it.
Overall I had a great time, great trails, and my friend with the Jeep was very impressed with what the stock bronco was able to do. I definitely added a lot of exp points for the next time we do another trial!
Took it to the dealer afterwards for some warranty work and oil change and the mechanic said "you're using this thing as intended" which made my day.
A few lessons learned on trip:
- Wish I had invested in additional sliders for the control arms, rear diff.
- While I made it through the obstacles, I think next time I will wait till I have a bit more ground clearance. The Jeep on 37's and 3 inch lift did much better in terms of clearing large rocks.
-When going rock crawling, remove the fenders, they are easy to remove and put on and I am really glad this was designed in. Had I kept the fenders on, I would need all new ones.
-Bronco is capable of a lot more than you'd think. There were some areas where I thought I would surely roll over but bronco did so well. It feels a lot worse inside the truck. Keeping an eye on the roll angles helps a lot to make sure you aren't pushing the limits.
Happy trails!
2 trucks. 1 rock.
