More importantly... has anybody seen or heard a story of the 10R60 breaking because of too much power? If not, this is all just armchair quarterbacking at it's finest.

I've had other vehicles that the "rated" torque was X and the tuning community went way over that and never had issues.

Hoping this is the case. But Iā€™d be a little hesitant to start pushing these engines right away. With what we have seen from blown engines and failures. But Iā€™m always down for a quality tune.

Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer and high-performance vehicle creator, has turned up the power on the new Ford Bronco with its acclaimed VelociRaptor package. The all-new Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco boasts 405 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 503 lb-ft torque at 3,900 rpm as a result of comprehensive reworking by the experts at Hennessey.

The teamā€™s engineers fit new intake and exhaust systems to the 2.7-litre twin-turbocharged V6 powerplant, in addition to recalibrating the engine to maximize power. The VelociRaptor package adds 75 hp to the range-topping, Bronco Badlands and adds 88 lb-ft to the stock torque figure enabling the 4Ɨ4 to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

It just means that the 10R60 is going to need some upgrades... or a swap to a 10R80 depending on what is more practical.
I bet the 10R80 doesnā€™t configure due the design and configuration of the existing componentsā€¦

Yup. Many people have tried to warn about this in the past, but they got dismissed each time. Now itā€™s even been officially confirmed, but people still donā€™t want to believe it.

ā€œBronco Brand Manager Esteban Plaza-Jennings told BN that the 10R60 is more than capable of handling the Broncoā€™s power output, as the trans is rated at 406lb-ft with the 2.3L engine and 424lb-ft with the 2.7L engine. For reference, the 2.3L engine is projected to produce 310lb-ft of torque, while the 2.7L will produce 400lb-ft.ā€

The Ford spec sheet lists the 2021 bronco 2.7 at 415 lb-ft of torque on premium and 410 lb-ft of torque on regular.

Believe it or not, these EcoBoost engines donā€™t lose much power at higher elevations. The turbos counter the difference in air pressure.
Yeah, this is pretty easy to confirm, what are your peak boost numbers on 87 or 93 with the 2.7L? It is boost in the pipe, not relative to anything else.

You all realize the explorer ST has the same 10R60 tranny in it and there are plenty of tunes that add over 500lbs/ft of torque and more than 450hp.

We've been running the Whipple calibration on our first edition for a little over 4 months now. No issues whatsoever. The bronco drives just like stock but has the added HP/TQ and no more auto start/stop crap.

This is also a 50 state legal cal and the only full flash available for the bronco.
