Can't wait! It might be the perfect engine in this thing, especially if the Bronco comes in around 3500 pounds!
If Ford managed to drop 500 pounds off a JL that would be crazy.

2.0L JL owner here, haven't had much experience in the rocks but I've heard very little complaints in the JL Forums from 2.0L owners that beat their rig hard. The eTorque system (good ol' mild hybrid) works wonders on the road. Gets up to 80 on the highway way too fast for a Jeep, haven't even tuned it. :giggle:

Yeah the original was around 3500 I think, depending on which top you had. Aluminum body panels shaved a lot off the newer f150s....

All the moving panels and fenders of the JL are aluminum too AFAIK, and the tops are all synthetic.

Yeah, you can't even get a midsized car in under 3500 lbs these days.

Maybe under 4,500. MAYBE.

Zero chance it's 3500lbs. That's less than the mustang. And damn near as light as my focus st. I would say 4200-4700ish depending on 2dr vs 4dr
I'm hoping they can avoid adding too much weight over a JL and keep the 2 door down to just over 4000. If the whole body is aluminum rather than just certain panels that should be doable.

Agreed it's very unlikely to be below 4k though.

Off topic, but ages ago, went to a bonfire in the woods with friends with my ex and her golf (1.8t, st1 tune with drop in filter)

Didn't realize it was deep in the woods, trails and small ruts, but we went and until she busted the oil pan after we broke up, car was fine despite being us following our friend who was driving fast ahead of us, sucking in dirt

Yeah, should be fine

So, we are now in out 7th year with the 3.5 EB in our f150. We are on tight trails at high altitude maybe 10 times a year.

Most of those trips find us in low range climbing fields of baby heads, loose rock, shelves etc, rear axle locked for at least part of the time. Carrying camping gear, fishing gear, people etc.

Turbo lag just never comes into play for us when geared down.

For those 1% rock crawlers it might I suppose. Maybe an electric supercharger like Land Rover is playing with would be a nice upgrade on the 2.7 for those folks. But the 2.7 engine gives huge torque at low rpms in native form.

Can't wait! It might be the perfect engine in this thing, especially if the Bronco comes in around 3500 pounds!
Gives me hope as I live in the mountains of Utah

This is crazy. My wife's 2018 Accord is roughly the same size, but less than 3200 pounds...
