Several posters have referenced this being a "get it while you can" kind of thing - is that a real concern? I understand it will sell less than the 4 door, as do the Jeep Wranglers, but I can't imagine that happening. thoughts? I'm probably waiting a good 2-3 years before pulling the trigger so this would be something to consider if enough people feel this theory has merit.

IMHO you have nothing to worry about. Jeep still has their 2 door even though the "take rate" is much smaller than the 4 door. I would much rather have a 2 door, but need the 4 door to have room for people, and more stuff. :)

It will be around at least long enough for them to recoup their tooling costs for parts unique to the 2-door. I think in the Jeep world that the 2-door accounts for less than 10% of all Wrangler sales. I would expect the Bronco to be similar.

What are the odds Ford would discontinue making cars?

Oh...

That had more to do with the new Federal CAFE regulations making cars largely unprofitable.

Which is what the head of the EPA 4-8 years ago said he was doing deliberately.
Cars are evil and the masses need to ride green public transit or ride share.

Not to mention that the fact that Jeep and Ford now both make a 2-door version means a nice off-road marketing advantage if the other one stops offering a 2-door model (better breakover, maneuverability, Etc). You can’t be the off-road king if all you offer is a mall-crawler, even if that is what virtually everyone buys.

Ford is ending production of sedans because fewer and fewer are being sold. That's it.

Can't see them stop making 2 doors as long as Jeep is offering them.

Where is the 2 door Explorer in the current lineup? I loved the one I had.

I was going to say, I've been on projects where they've invested millions, tens of millions and then scrapped it a few years later.....
