Speaking of factory screwups...
It concerned me at the time but now it's kind of funny that the VIN stickers on the passenger side of my Flex are for the wrong car. Somewhere out there is another Flex with my VIN on half the stickers.
Sure it was an OEM factory screwup? Not catastrophic damage repair?

I looked underneath it extensively, no evidence of welding/rework. Someone was able to confirm from other numbers on the sticker that it was the same build date as my car

Dealerships aren’t maintenance depots and are limited on what types of repairs they can do. Swap parts, sure. Lift the body off the frame? Not so much.
I know it doesn't really matter, but dealership service departments can and do lift vehicle bodies off the frame. That's the fastest way to replace the engine's rear main seal on a Ford Excursion.
