Take this for what it is worth:

I called Ford Performance this morning asking about why the Extreme Duty Steering Kit did not work for certain models, specifically the Non-SAS Badlands which is very similar to the geometry of models with the Sasquatch package. The initial answer I was given was that it had something to do with the tie rod ends (?) When I asked about how this would be an issue for individuals who have/will be replacing factory tie rods to aftermarket versions, I was then encouraged to send an email with my questions. Within a few minutes of sending the email I received the following reply:

Good Morning Darrell,

The gear (M-3200-WT) is not compatible with certain trim levels. We have stated which vehicles are compatible in our listing…

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-3200-WT

Without getting too into the specifics, the steering ratio for the M-3200-WT is incompatible with some models, and because of that the module flash for a M-3200-WT kit in a non-compatible vehicle will cause issues with ESC / ABS / Lane keep calibrations as they are for a different C-Factor/Steering ratio than what this rack is.

We are working on a kit designed for the other vehicles that the M-3200-WT does not currently support and hope to have it available within the next few months. It is too early to comment on when exactly it will launch at this time. I would keep an eye on our website for updates.

Thank You,

Considering the 2024 Badlands comes with the HOSS 3.0 rack, I hope that will expedite the process. From what I have read, some of the guys that have already cracked the code on this have been using flash "firmware" from a 22 Wildtrack. Wondering if using the firmware from a 2024 Non-SAS Badlands would be an option and if that would be an improvement on the current "jailbreaking" process until the official release of the new kit.

There are actually 2 different ratios based on my research, BUT this won't likely affect ABS significantly, but it very well could impact the emergency steering assist or lane keeping.

Most of us would never see the difference, but this would be easy to rectify in the backyard, simply change the ratio to match the old rack or in software to update the other modules with the new ratio. This is pretty stupid easy to fix... But Ford isn't prioritizing it.

@Ford Motor Company - Cheap mf'ers should have sprung for the Sasquatch package - we can punish them for their arrogance! LOL.

What if I don’t have lane keeping or emergency steering?

Man, I honestly think that’s a damn good and thoughtful reply. I do believe him that they’re working on another rack and it should be literally end of summer.

I know you can Frankenmod the available rack, but not sure how that would affect warranty or liability if it bricks safety features if you do.

Just wheel as normal until it comes. At least it’s on your radar for this year. Likely an upgrade for me next year if I don’t burn the wallet with the 74Weld, which I’m leaning away from at this point by the day. I’m not a YouTuber trying to do the Hot Tub in Moab with my newish rig. I doubt I’d ever crack that HOSS 3.0 rack, so diminishing returns for sure between the two.

As someone who has done this swap on my Non sas OBX I get they have to cover themselves for liability. I have had zero issues other than smiling off road now that I can actually turn my wheel in any situation so far. My stock rack was getting weak after 25k miles of having 37” tires and actually using our Bronco off road. It was a big difference in feel off road. On road easier to turn the wheel when parking is the only noticeable difference.

Interesting. So the 24 Badlands has a different steering ratio compared to a 22?
Cool that they're working on a kit for the other trims.

Do you know what the ratios are?
The only ones that I have data for are as follows from older asbuilt databases. However, that's where I would check to see if there are Broncos that deviate from the norm.

Location
760-02-01: xxx*-xxxx-xxxx
Values
0=Reserved
1=EPAS 17:1
2=EPAS 21:1

The value for my Bronco is 1 and I am pretty sure that it is EPAS 17:1, stock my Bronco uses rack MB3Z-3504-C.

However, VIN 1FMDE5CP7MLA63055 is a non-sasquatch Badlands and it has the same value as my Bronco (but it's a 2 door and uses the MB3Z-3504-C rack). Value is 1.

Also VIN 1FMDE5CP6NLB74911 (a 2022 Wildtrak HOSS 3.0 Bronco) also has the same ratio. NM3Z-3504-M, value is 1.

Finally VIN 1FMEE5DH4NLB87295, a 2022 4 door Bronco non-sasquatch 2.3 liter has a different rack, with a value of 4. Which I remember being 16:1 (but I can't remember for sure, so don't count on the ratio). It is using part number NB3Z-3504-U.

Ok so I took what your saying and dug into it a bit more. I pulled various as built data from several different broncos and the number you referred to ranged from1-4. My question is how do you know what that number means? I’m assuming you pulled it off the f150 forscan spreadsheet? But I’m assuming that doesn’t necessarily mean it applies to the bronco.

23 badlands sas 2.7 number was a 1
22 base 2.7 number was a 2
22 base 2.3 number was a 3
22 black diamond 2.7 sas number was a 1
22 badlands non sas 2.3 number was a 4
22 2 door 7 speed was a 3
22 2 door 2.3 number was a 1

I’m not trying to disagree with what your saying. I’m simply trying to learn how to figure this stuff out.

I would assume the ratio change would have to do with the assist motor and not actual lock to lock ratio. This may be the reason some felt like
The upgraded rack provided less assist while others felt it was better. Just a thought.

Actually, it wasn't an F-150 sheet, but from the cyanlabs website. I don't see any disagreement, but I see a lack of transparency from Ford in what the differences are between various racks.

However 760-02-01 does allow us to see that there are different racks going in. I know that I was unable to successfully program one Bronco rack with FDRS due to incompatibility between the 1 racks and the 2 or 3 rack (I am unsure which rack it was off the top of my head).

In retrospect, I could have hacked around the issue, but I know more now.

Confirmed the as-built info on my two broncos..

21 badlands 2.7 sasquatch - 1
21 big bend 2.3 non-sas - 3

My goal is to program one of the performance racks off my badlands, plug into the big bend, and see what happens.. if that works, then i will order a second rack for my badlands.

I will buy this as soon as it’s available for non-sas Badlands. It’s a shame it’s not available already.
