Does anyone know how reservation fees are supposed to be applied to the sale price, if at all?

I mentioned to the salesperson that the total paid so far is $1100 ($100 reservation deposit and $1000 order deposit), and they said they believe the $100 is a fee and not credited against purchase price.

I know it’s a small amount, and it may be the case that dealerships each get to decide what they do with the $100. But does anyone know if Ford corporate made any specific indications of how it should be treated, one way or the other? I searched the reservation FAQ and came up dry.

Yeah, your guy is full of shit. It is to be credited to your purchase. Ford never intended it to be kept by the dealer.

That’d be criminal if they tried to play a game with that. Hopefully they are just (severely) uneducated in this…

I included a wording saying $100 gets deducted off of sale price and GM signed it.

Sounds like it’s probably up to the dealer and mine is being greedy

I got my $100 back from Ford when I converted to an order. My dealer wanted $1000 deposit that will be applied to the purchase price when it comes in.
The $100 was paid to Ford directly and has nothing to do with your dealer so they can’t keep it

This is incorrect in the USA which is why I included that in the title.

In the USA the $100 is paid to the dealership and is not returned at order conversion.

That isn't correct actually. I'm in the USA and I received my deposit back when I converted.

Did you switch dealerships? I know it got refunded if you switched dealerships, but not if you reserved and converted at the same one.
