...and I could tell a real difference in the way the Bronco drove.
I'm not one to accelerate aggressively so that's not what I noticed, rather an overall smother drive. Sometimes in the past I would find just a bit of sputter when using 87 octane, nothing major but not an entirely smooth experience. After using 91 octane the drive is smoother, especially prior to the vehicle fully reaching temperature.

I always fill up with 93. 2.7 doesn't need any more reason to crap out on me.

We’ll the octane does help fill in the traction grooves in the tires so this make perfect sense. 😂

Thanks for posting. I was wondering if you could feel the difference between the fuels. Have you notice any change in MPG?

I’m curious about maximum boost pressures using 87 vs 93. I have not run anything but 87 in mine so far. Next time I do a 21.5 gallon fill up, I may switch. However, I want to get a handle on maximum boost pressures under maximum acceleration at say 50 MPH first, then compare.

Maybe I do have poor quality 87, but I'm fairly confident it's not a placebo as I'm typically quite conscious of this kind of bias.

In your experience, is there no discernable difference between various octanes?

The Coyote V8 can detect higher grade gasoline and calibrates itself differently. No reason Ford couldn’t have used similar technology in these engines, although these days, just be thankful yours runs at all.

I haven't driven enough with the higher octane yet to see a difference.

I have been running only 89 octane in my 2.7 2 door Sas. It's about .60 more than regular 87 but it seems to run well on it and I'm consistently getting over 22 MPG- and it moves it along effortlessly. I'd like to go to 87 for the savings but really how it runs currently.

ford released some sort of dyno on fuel, there is a performance bump.

agree, ran a few tanks no real difference vs the cost. mpg went up slightly but i'm not a super aggressive driver.

i'm sure it's a little better but the price difference here .7gal or $583/y assuming you do a tank a week, or 3k over 5 years.

question becomes is it 600 a year better?

In 'eco' mode, premium not important.
When loaded (not using eco modes) and on a trail, premium definitely favored.
Placebo effect, maybe?
It felt and seemed real in the Arizona High desert last week.
More door, 2.7 and loaded with gear.
"Its more than a feeling"!
