Had a blast today doing some trails.
made the ones at SuperCel East look like a freshly paved Starbucks parking lot.
Definitely challenged my comfort zone, (some) of the capabilities of my TJ, and for sure my left leg with the clutch work!
I can tell you all some of the features coming on our Broncs are going to make stuff like this VERY much easier.
things like one pedal, SBD, trail turn, and the various modes.
Definitely recommend the trip and now that I’ve ran some of the trails, I understand why it probably isn't the best choice for the Off-Rodeo.
The trails are a bit longer, very narrow in places, and probably a bit more hardcore in several spots than they want to use as an exhibition of the vehicles.
Plus nowhere local to set up their super-cool OffRodeo home base.
I had several clips to share but they are too large to attach.

That's some fine work there!!! How much would a paint job like that run the average fellow on a 4DR Bronco??
Rough estimate would be around the $5k mark.
If it included the top and panels it would be more.

Good thing is no damage on a new Bronco (or should be very little and no rust!!).
Bad thing is that specific paint is no longer made and I have enough to do a few vehicles and then I am out forever...And it cost about $6K per gallon when it was in production.

You actually paint the vehicle more than once.
You have to lay down a base color (black or grey is best), spray this chromatic layer down (usually 3 coats), then you go to the clear coat.

And thank you for the comment!
I get sooo many stares, questions, people coming to ask me about it, and it's only been painted about a week and a half.
Everyone was staring, gawking, stopping me on the trails to ask if it was a wrap or paint, who painted it, etc...

We're trying to organize a get-together at URE in the fall if you want to get your name on the list to join us:
URE (Uwharrie) Bronco Weekend get-together? | Bronco6G - 2021+ Ford Bronco Forum, News, Blog & Owners Community

I haven't been since I sold my JK back in 2015. I am looking forward to getting back out there myself.
Oh yeah, already in that thread with comments a few times.
A million percent interested.
I won't have my BL until next year, but I'll be more than glad to join in, help do whatever to get it going.
If you folks who do have yours by then don't mind a TJ riding along...

What paint brand/type? Back when I was delivering auto parts/supplies (circa 1995), House of Color or Kosmic Kolor (or something like that) I think was the going thing. I don't remember exactly but I want to say it was over $100 a pint back then.

Dupont Chromabase.
It cost over $600 a pint back in the late 90's/early 00's.
HOK still makes some chromatic-type stuff but mainly it is a pearl-shift and not an actual basecoat.

Stumbled back on this long-dead thread today.
Wanted to give an update from my assumptions over a year ago, before the Bronco.
I was correct in every assumption.
Having been there several times now in the Bronco, I can say that there is nothing I handled in that TJ that the Bronco did not handle better, smoother, less effort.
Now hardcore stuff needing large articulation and bigger-than-37-38" tires? I'll take the TJ for that and the ability to outfit it for such for less cost.

But for most trails most people would do or want to do?
Bronco for the win (factory option to factory option).
The auto is seamless, SBD is too easy (no more lying in the dirt to disconnect), lockers at the touch of a button, shift into 4Hi on a slow roll as needed, front and wheel cameras at the ready.
There were things I loved about the TJ and things I did not like.
And now looking back a full year, glad I made the choice...

Although there is still a part of me that wants to keep the Bronco for the nice (mostly) reasonable rides, get an older Jeep TJ or CJ5 to thoroughly thrash on the stuff ya mama warned ya about.
