I thought they did a poor job on the release video for the Jeep compared to the bronco. I am glad to see a v-8 but the gas mileage will be very poor and axels will be breaking from all that power. Nice to see them step up to the plate instead of just sitting back to see what happens with the bronco.
I think people are also forgetting that that 392 V8 is a heavy engine. Probably add about 150 to 200lbs on the front end.

I still think the 2.7 Twin Turbo V6 Eco boost especially tuned will be a better set up.

$45k I just built my Base plus Sasquatch 2.7 and it came out to $36k then plus options $38k.
Thats obviously a two door, which is a great deal. I was starting with a 4 door, 2.7, Sasquatch, hardtop, adding Steel bumper, bash plates, aux switches, floor mats, and rock rails to make it more compatible with a rubicon.

$44,255

Thats why I don’t think 4 door base is a great deal. A similar 2 door build is $6000 cheaper! That’s insane and is almost criminal by ford.

I am hoping the 2.7 will be awesome. The axels on the Jeep v-8 will have a problem holding up in my opinion for most drivers. if not the axels then other drive line components. Just nice to see this epic battle going on in these unprecedented times.

just like it took the Bronco for Jeep to actually release relo brackets for the mirrors that were removed from the doors.
Hopefully they will both build off each other's ideas. That means we get a better vehicle in the end. They just need to keep pricing down. Car pricing is just ridiculous now adays...

Meh. Hemi V8s are for old fat guys with too many boring stories about the good old days. I'd take a tuned 2.7L Ecoboost instead any day. Hell, it's only 70lbs less torque stock.

Ford will answer with a warthog sporting a 3.0L TT V6 with a gas-only 400hp/415tq... plus an optional electric motor hybrid assist for combined 500hp/630tq. That’s my bet.

I guess calling people names when you don't like the same things is the thing to do now.

A 392ci Jeep is just proof that they're grasping at straws. It's going to be so expensive that it'll be a niche market. Not a threat to Bronco sales, but it may push people towards the Bronco if power is what they're looking for. As a current 2.7L owner (325HP / 400 ft./lbs in my F150 SuperCrew 4x4, 3.55 gears), I can say that it it moves my truck quickly when I want it too, but I can still get 23 mpg if I drive like a granny. I owned a 2013 6-Spd, 3.73 gear set Wrangler, and the best I could must out of the Pentastar was about 18.5 mpg, if I drove VERY conservatively.

I just read that dealers are seeing prices between $70-80k.

That's just stupid! I thought 65K+ for a fully loaded Rubi was obscene, but people bought them. People are still getting on their feet financially after this whole Covid BS; I can't believe they'll be going out and spending that just to have a novelty item!
