Our good friend Bob Ives visited MT4x4 to help us do a trip to AZ by way of Moab. We made a video series introducing Bob and some of his amazing off roading experiences, like not only competing in the Camel Trophy race, but winning it. Today he is still one of the most sought after off road experience for film/tv production. Top Gear UK and Grand Tour in the US, is some of his current work. Key thing is Bob is just flat out an great all around guy, humble farmer/amazing off road career that continues today.

UPDATE: Part 2 is live!

3 part series on our Metal-tech 4x4 YouTube Channel Please like and subscribe!

We need more of this content and another 45 minutes on that video. Excellent!
Question: How did you come to know Bob and that he was headed to AZ? Always interesting to hear how these connections are made.

Two more videos are coming. With more in depth interviews with Bob and his work on Top Gear, Grad Tour as well as more Trophy.

This is Mark the owner of Metal-tech 4x4. I met Bob in late 2009 when the BBC hired me/Metal-tech 4x4 to provide remote location support for their Bolivia Special episode. They brought in Metal-tech 4x4 due to Hammond (one of the stars of Top Gear) was coming off a rocket car crash that almost killed him. They wanted top safty for him, so for Bolivia he was to drive the FJ40. The BBC ask around and BF Goodrich, said "You want a Metal-tech 4x4 roll cage", the PIAA Japan said the same thing. (Thanks guys!) So they called for our equipment, but after talking with me they ask if I could be hired to help with the production IN Bolivia. I had less than a week to get geared up to go in. Best we make a video with me sharing the experience. Lets just day 3 day trip in Bolivia turned into 14.

Hammond and Mark Hawley of Metal-tech 4x4, La Paz Bolivia
Handing off the now "built" FJ40 on sprung over and on 35's after I drove it from the outdoor fab shop to the hotel though wall to wall traffic. Good thing 35's to Bolivians looked like monster tires, and I just swerved around a bit and they stayed clear! (Talking NO one stops for red lights, it was a free for all!)

As a lifelong Top Gear/Grand Tour fan since they began airing on BBC America back in the early 2000s, it's very cool to see the people behind the scenes that make their expedition specials come to life. And great to see the merging of that now in the Bronco world. Thanks for sharing!

What winch mount is this?

winchplate.png
That is our proto front winch mount with CNC machined aluminum soft shackle recovery points, and 20" single row light bar. This will be available in a little over a month from now. We will have more info as its getting released on our website, www.metaltech4x4.com

Here is a video showing our approach and departure on a 45* climb. We also go down it too. As I shard with another member, what you dont hear on the video was the woman in the side by side as we went down it screaming: "they are going to roll...OMG.. stop them they will roll."

This looks promising.

Will there be an optional bull bar? It’s where the other currently designed aftermarket options fall short for me. Only the Ford OE has it. Will it fit the capable bumper? Also accommodations to move the sensors.

Fantastic video! I can't wait for the others.

Any details on the front and rear bumpers? Weights and pricing?
I have a '23 Wildtrak that has a VIN at this point and "scheduled" to be built in the next month or so.

Professionals like those featured in this series are what drives the off road and overlanding lifestyle forward. Nationality, profession, and even net worth be damned, it's all about everyone involved buying into the goal of the moment. Whether it's to cross a sticky mud hole, traversing a river, or climbing a rock shelf, or a combination of all types, it's the proper grouping of a like minded set of people that turn something from impossible into a thrilling success. What an inspiration!
Thank you to the entire Metal-Tech 4x4 crew and entire Ives crew for making and sharing such an inspirational video success. If this video didn't inspire you then I challenge you to get out there and test the capability of your Bronco! I know that I certainly plan to, here's to an exciting 2023! Giddy Yup!!!
