Tracked down carb gray. AMB and A51 next.
Overall, it’s not 100% like a typical popular medium gray metallic that most automakers offer. It has a little bit of a color shift to it from medium gray to silver, with bronze highlights in certain light. The flake is very light. It’s a full shade lighter than magnetic gray. As well as my Subaru gray. While most grays have a steel blue to it, this leans more towards bronze. The videos and some photos show a comparison to my Subaru metallic gray (which is your typical medium steel blue gray) as well as a comparison to the former magnetic color (see the 2020 Edge photo, and 2020 explorer in the video), so you could see how carbonized gray leans more silver/bronze. It’s really more of a dark silverish color with some bronze highlights than the standard medium gray, magnetic, that it is replacing. After walking the lot with 2020 (magnetics) it felt like carb gray was some dark silver variant they included in the 2020 line up to pair with magnetic. Like the name of the color seems like it should have “silver” in it, not “gray”....I think they made iconic silver to be so light and bright (like stainless steel) that carb gray now slots nicely above that, but below the outgoing magnetic.
In any regard, it’s a smart looking color with some shifts, and makes magnetic look pretty bland with a cheaper painting process.
I thought it was okay. It’s a good back-up / safety color or a nice default if no other color is for you, or you want to match with the MIC top. Didn’t really wow me, but all waxed up having some bronze highlights could look pretty interesting and stealthy.
Others noted the badlands overlands at super cel also had some bronze highlights in the MIC top, so I guess that’s consistent given the MIC top is technically called carbonized gray molded in color.
