Vintage look - what colors compliment Cactus Gray?

If you truly want a vintage look, I'm not sure CG is the right choice anymore. When we thought it was mint green maybe. But most people are saying it's cement.

I'll admit that I think the CG Mustang looks good with the orange and black accents, but not sure how vintage that is.

There's much debate, but CG could easily be called Cement grey.... to the naked eye it's just going to be .... grey.....

It all started with the primer black, which is morphing into chasing FLAT and SATIN black and other colors, which also brought in the "tactical" DRAB colors.

I like the vintage look, but I'm not sure if cactus gray will look vintage with white wheels and top. CG may be too light and not enough contrast to the white. I'm not sure if any of the current colors can pull off a vintage look. We need a light green or light blue.

Until then, the wife is holding firm with Oxford white. I've seen a few old school white Broncos, and this is as close as I'll be able to get with white.

Man, kinda glad this order business is dragging out. Started with Carbon Grey Big Bend and have progressed to Cactus Grey Black Diamond. I did not care for photos of CG but after seeing the colors in person on the Bronco Sport, the color feels more retro to me. I’m going to switch to 33s on the steelies and after Discount Tire removes the tires I’ll pick them rims up get them powder coated white at my buddies fabrication shop. I’ve attached a pic of a sport with a white mask on the CG. Pics in sun and shade as well.

I plan to give my 2-door a 2-tone look, so what colors might complement Cactus Grey? If I end up with Area 51, I could easily see doing white (and a white top). That feels natural.

But what about CG?

If it were me, I'd accent it with Carbon Grey/Black and Orange decals. You can get all kinds of vinyl decals custom made for your rig. It wouldn't be too expensive to have them made and applied professionally.

Just photoshopped the above mentioned photo to have a MIC top. This will be pretty damn close to my build. Also made one with the brush guard and roof rails!

I am also wanting a vintage vibe for my CG OBX. I wish I could find a wimbledon white hockey stick stripe! I think oxford white is too white.
