Warranty denied because of Fluid Film undercoating?

Started putting together a timeline on this just in case I need it.

The CEL came on 8 weeks after I had the undercoating done. I find that interesting. It sure took a long time to cause an issue.

Located on top of the gas tank. Tank has to be dropped to get to it.

Man Im having my bronco sprayed with Wool Wax Tuesday. This makes me feel uneasy about that. Guess Ill tell them not to spray above the gas tank?

I would do exactly that. If you think of it, ask them if they are aware of any issue spraying above the gas tank and report back what they say. I'd love to hear their take in it.

They dropped the tank to verify. They said it blocked a hole and damaged the part. I was told it couldn't be cleaned, it needed to be replaced. I'm going to get the exact part number then talk to the undercoating company.

I find it hard to believe that the dealer went through all the trouble of dropping the tank to diagnose the issue and screw it back again without replacing the sensor. Seems a ton of wasted work even if you had to pay for the sensor. Smells like BS...

This was my second time in the shop with this. The first time they made me reschedule because they knew they needed to have it long enough to drop the tank.

They didn't replace the sensor this time bc they are not available right now.

That's brutal... Did you get the feeling they blamed fluid film just to get rid of you (because the part is not available)?

I would personally try to clean the one you have. If there is a port on it, cleaning it (opening the port) may just do the trick. Then again, not sure how mechanical you are with that stuff.

Sounds like bs. I’m in pa as well, and I’ve used two cans last year and gonna do the same this year. Granted I’m diy. Idk how fluid film would do this maybe covering a sensor sure. At the least they could clean it and charge you for the man hours?

Ford told me it was broken and cleaning won't fix it. That's backed up by some other stories I've read online sadly.

Ask them for the old parts back. Since they are not covering it on warranty they have no need to send back to FoMoCo.

couple cans of throttle body cleaner, and reset the computer. 20 bucks, New can of fluid film, 10 bucks more. That would be my route.
