I'm curious how much weight the steel wheels add to the unsprung weight of the Bronco when compared to comparable aluminum wheels.

Probably not much, modern wheels are pretty chunky.

Steel is approximately 2.5x denser than aluminum, assuming the same volume of material, the steel wheel would be just that, 2.5x heavier.

However, ductile strength and elacticity is an issue with aluminum, so your overall weight savings would be closer to 1x given the extra aluminum needed to increase strength of such a component.

As always, it depends on exactly the steel or aluminum used.

We'd have to find out what the steel wheel weighs. An aftermarket aluminum wheel in that size will typically be 20-30lb depending on design.

Edit - I just found the Maverick steelies are 27.2lb. I bet Bronco is a little more still.

I appreciate the quantum physics, but a simple search of this site and the internet, plus a little deciphering skills will never give you up.😉😉
There's so much vague-posting in the OP it's not possible to understand exactly what is being asked without further input.

General weight information is as valid as your contribution or any searching that the OP was too lazy to do for themselves.

I mean, for all intents and purposes, the answer of "They don't make stamped wheels and barrels from aluminum sheet" would have answered the question as asked.

Steel wheels can be heavier than aluminum wheels or vice versa. It depends on the wheels. Lighter weight wheels help performance a lot- both on and off road. Some of those really nice XD, Fuel and other wheels weigh a lot. When I was shopping for aluminum replacement wheels for my previous Jeep TJ a couple of years ago, I found out how much wheels weigh and how much weight varies. I liked some of the Fuel wheels but they were so heavy. I end up going with a basic aluminum Pro-Comp for like 89 each. They were super light weight and helped the Jeep out given it had only 190 HP.
