I appreciate the suggestion and you are correct. My wife and I made an agreement to start taking our kids to national parks and the like now that we have a bit more time and flexibility. Some of which could be freezing and I'd rather have it for just a hundred bucks. Plus I could hang the plug from my hood and have all the Texans ask me if I have an EV or something lol.

Edit: ha look what is happening right now in Houston. See attached picture. Snow!

Hahaha yup, I was already planning the demise or sale of base wheels and tires lol. Oh no a flat! In the sidewall. Oh no another one!! Omg!

I'm getting the block heater for our eventual move back to Wyoming. I think it'll be worth it in the long run just to get the heat on faster, might help with engine/turbo longevity to.

And lol at what counts as snow in Texas, Motley Crue could sneeze and create more white powder than that.

I'd definitely ditch the floor liners and block heater, living in Houston.

Why is it that everyone thinks they need these super tough all weather floor liners these days?

Its not like 99% of people are actually using their trucks on the farm, and its snowing and raining all the time and they are stepping in mud and horseshit everyday.

Most of us are just going through a Starbucks drive-thru on the way to the office!

And people are laying these mats on top of their existing carpet mats, only to end up jammed under the brake pedal, causing you to rear-end the car in front of you, a la Toyota debacle!

I mean, just because we are buying a Bronco doesn't make us an actual COWBOY.

Sorry, just a stupid pet-peeve of mine and its JUST MY WORTHLESS OPINION!

I'm an equine veterinarian, guess that makes me a 1 percenter I'll be driving my Bronco
on the farm, across fields through snow, rain and stepping in mud and manure everyday.
All my trucks have Weather Tech liners. They do a great job containing all the dirt and
are easy to remove to clean the trucks.

Yep, I was gutting a house from a burst water pipe last week and covered in sheetrock soup and insulation... Maybe that guy will allow me to have some floor liners? Ha

I did 6 different Badlands B&Ps. Printed then laid them out in front of my wife and walked through the pros and cons of each. She had the same look on her face as I have when she walks me through the new paint options she's looking at for the living room. She said, "just get what you want." I explained it is a money thing, 10k difference from the bottom to the top. Told me after 25 years of marriage and raising kids, it was my turn to treat myself to something. She talked me into the Badlands, Auto, 2.7, Lux, Sas. I'm looking forward to the next 25 with her in my Badsquatch!

Does it prevent the key from being used to start the car, do you know? Meaning, if I use the keypad to lock the truck and leave the key inside, could someone cut my soft top, get inside, press the start button and it'd start like normal?
No. There is no additional security to the keypad. It just locks/unlocks the vehicle (without having the key). If you are leaving the key inside, put the fob in a Faraday bag secured in the console.

Also as others have mentioned, you can add the keypad after delivery. For that matter, any accessory that you don't need Day 1 and don't care to roll into your note, then pay for it at the parts counter later. As a veteran, you can get 15% off Ford accessories from @NayNay .

And save yourself the money on the block heater. I know you gave the rationale that you will justify it by using your rig to visit northern locales with the family. But unless you are vacationing in the middle of winter with access to plug it in, it will be worthless.

I started at a base squatch and my wife talked me into getting a Badsquatch 2.7 high package in Cyber orange. It did not take much convincing to get me to upgrade. She wanted me to get exactly what I wanted if I am spending this much on a new vehicle.

Many people bring their own portable power sources when camping. So looks like you’ll be fine with a little research on different chargers if the block heater is necessary.

I did just find this:
https://www.thedrive.com/maintenance-repair/36647/engine-block-heater
Do I Need An Engine Block Heater?
Do you live on Hoth? Are you thinking of moving beyond the Wall? If so, maybe! Generally, if you live in a climate where you regularly experience temperatures below 10 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s not a bad idea. If you live where those temperatures are a rarity, probably not.”

Personally, I am not built for camping in anything less than 30 degrees. 😆

During this last winter 🥶 freeze in TX our cars had a hard time when we started them in the cold temps after sitting several days. It felt like the engine was going to jump out of the hood! They wouldn’t go anywhere safely till we let them warm up in the sun that came at the end of the week. Not sure if this was something a block heater would remedy, electronics or condensation in gas lines? I’m thinking it was the latter, as the one car with only half a tank of gas took the longest to get back to normal.
