"The $500 order fee was unexpected, as was the just over $4000 "dealer price", but I'm rolling with it"

Did you sign a purchase agreement with the $500 order fee and the 4K dealer price mark-up? We're all seeing horror stories of ADM when taking delivery, but it looks like you agreed to it at the time of order. Just curious how that worked as I'm converting an order at the same dealer.
Thanks Mike.
The $500 is the order deposit. A surprise because for some reason I didn't expect it, because there was already a $100 reservation deposit, but also understandable, that's a pretty standard deposit to order a car from Ford.

The just over $4000 is listed as a line item described as "Difference from Total MSRP: The amount shown is the difference between Total MSRP and Dealer Selling Price, excluding Dealer Installed Options."

Under that is Dealer Selling Price, which adds the aforementioned $4000ish to the total, described thus:
"Dealer Selling Price: Price the dealer is willing to sell the vehicle for in a purchase transaction and ocrresponds to the estimated dealer selling price for the vehicle displayed in the Pricing Summary. Excludes available incentives..."

So... Best guess is the dealers have been allowed to enter their markups into Ford's ordering system, and it just hands the markups out, despite the MSRP protection for reservations before March. At least people know up front instead of being surprised by a large markup on delivery?

Just another thing to discuss when it comes time to sign the paperwork.

Bail. I have a july 14 res and ordered mine this week. They accepted the $100 as the res and signed up at msrp. Call around and get it fixed asap. If not change dealers.

That's called "Additional Dealer Markup" i.e. "ADM". ADM is not in Ford's pricing system, Earnhardt just made it sound official.

Thanks Mike. I'll keep and eye out for you and your badass rig. Figure we likely live somewhat close to each other.

Seems to me Mike is okay with the 4K and excited to take this next step in getting his Bronco.

The $500 order deposit seems like a normal Ford thing. I don't remember what the docs fee was. The "Additional Dealer Markup" on my order says it's just over $4000. I'm still not really sure what to make of that, it's something that I'll be bringing up with the sales and finance staff when the vehicle comes in. Some people are saying to bail on it, but that's just not how I operate. I appreciate the advice, but I'm not bailing on it until I've been able to talk to the dealership about what they're trying to accomplish charging that much extra over MSRP. Originally I was told by Earnhardt that they were not going to be making any additional charges above MSRP for Bronco orders. You can be sure that will come up in the conversation.

Once it comes in it’ll be too late. They might even mark it up more since you’ve already agreed to pay over MSRP now. And if you decide to bail, it goes on the lot at even higher ADM. There are lots of dealers out there agreeing to MSRP. But hey- it’s your money! Waste it if you want!

Arguably by that logic it is already too late to bail. I've already paid the order deposit.

So I just talked to my sales person at Earnhardt and they're telling me there is NO dealer markup on my order, and they're totally willing to put that in writing.

So... IDK what the Ford order page is saying. I'm willing to wait though. I've done business with Earnhardt before, and they did me right. They've earned some trust from me.

Today I put in my order. Reservation date late July 2020.

The $500 order fee was unexpected, as was the just over $4000 "dealer price", but I'm rolling with it. I'm happy to have it submitted. Now I can stop worrying about whether to get orange or blue, or whether I really need sasquatch versus saving $4000 on the end price. My decisions have been recorded and I'll just have to wait to see if past-me knows what future me really wants.

For the curious: 2022 Cyber Orange Badlands Lux package Hardtop 2.7L Sasquatch with Modular Steel Bumper.

Planned aftermarket: Roof rails and aftermarket fog lamps.

Seconds after I put in my order I got an email from the salesperson I've been talking to at Earnhardt Ford in Arizona, happy to say they've been very attentive since I figured out (sort of) what was broken with my email, they even let me test drive a Wildtrack Squatch. Solid vehicle. I'm excited to own one soon.

Badlands with sasquatch is not 4k its the BP is goofy, more like 2300$. I would have shopped around for a msrp dealership.

As I noted in my most recent post...

Apparently there's something goofy with the page. Earnhardt has said they won't be charging me a markup.

You better do it now. There are many dealers doing msrp for reservation holders. Waiting til it arrives they will increase it to 10k

*scratching head* Maybe you should refresh your page. There've been a few things since I wrote that. In fact... didn't I just reply to you once already with updated info?

Sounds like they are willing to give it to you in writing. Ask for a signed order with the final price written out. Most of us have that already - so there should be no problems getting that to you. Any issues and I would walk away if you are not willing to give the dealer 4k above. Also, you wonder you were wondering what they plan to accomplish with 4k over? Think about it, what would you accomplish if you had an extra 4k sitting around?
