Those are the indicator on the temp gauge. Kinda like a segmented LED look if you will. 4 is normal on my truck. Start it when it is cold out and you will have no lines.

Actually the better question is "what are all the numbers above the temp gauge for? The 20, 40, 60, etc...". My truck has those too, but I never use them Never really had a use for them, and they are shoved way over on the cluster. Hardly even notice they are there.

That's the actual temp gauge reading.
As it warms up they move to the right.
Kind of odd, but it is what it is.

That's the read out on temperature I believe. That's showing the temp right at the mid point I'd say.

There really are no stupid questions, but I've seen some stoopid answers in my life.

Select Offroad in the dash read out, then you will see gauges. Select it and you will get a digital readout of the gauges.

The thread doesn’t bother me, nor does the original question. Reviving it with completely incorrect information is very pointless and unnecessary though, especially considering the original poster hasn’t even logged on in the last 6 months. Not to mention, the question had already been clearly answered. Congratulations for adding zero value to an old thread
