seems like the only difference is missing swaybar disconnect and a new mode.

why is it so expensive? does it have a factory tune?

It's got features from both outer Banks and Badlands combined into one trim, plus V6 and painted hard top standard. It actually looks like a great value if you are planning on a 4 door hard top.

And..... it seems to be one of the few with a light colored interior

Big differences in standard features vs options. Standard: 2.7 v6, Sasquatch package, 4dr Shadow painted Hardtop and Mid package.
I have reserved a FE and Wildtrak. If FE only comes with Navy Pier, I going Wildtrak and loading up to FE options. Only difference between loaded Badlands and Wildtrak is no swaybar disconnect with Wildtrak. I'm not a rock climber so disconnect is no big deal for me. Plus I'm really digging that front grille.

Spot on. It's got every option that I want that lesser models lack. The shadow black hardtop, Squatch, and V6 are going to jack up the cost of lesser models. The Wildtrak is a value IMHO.

If if didn’t have the cloth seats and carpet that is what I’d get.

One other difference that may turn out important is that Wildtrak gets Sport GOAT mode whereas Badlands gets Rock/Crawl instead (which Wildtrak doesn’t get). It’s not so much a feature as it is just a difference.

I hope that Normal mode works out for the Badlands auto owners out there. I have heard that the 10-spd can sometimes be confused on what gear it should be in. The Sport mode seems to help hold the gears longer.
