Perfect vehicle to replace the wife's explorer with if it ever came stateside but I doubt it ever will
Made it a point to make damn sure that the rental we are getting in New Zealand in a few month is the Everest for this very reason. May not get another chance to try one out for a while.

Most of the people I've known who drove Lincoln's were suburban lawyers and older money folks closer to the country. The style is more old school country club, but it does overlap of course with the Euro/Asian luxury set.
Oh I know, I'm in SC now but raised in TN, the old school money you'll never know, they'll hop in a an old truck and their wife might drive a Lincoln or Caddy, if they're wanting to be controversial they might drive a Mercedes. This latest noveau riche trend of driving the latest and trendiest for appearances and likes is something new to me!

what if Ford wanted to take some buyers away from Land Rover and released a Lincoln Bronco?

What differences would it have?

I’ll start by sticking to Lincoln’s use of aviation names and call it the Lincoln A10.
Lincoln is a marque that should have been consigned to the history books long ago, alike Mercury.
Ford would have been FAR better off retaining the Premier Auto Group (Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo, Mazda but not Lincoln), and Ford heavy trucks. Mulally was obviously clueless about their value (Nasser with Ford heavy trucks*).

* In February 1997, Ford shocked its heavy truck dealers with the announcement that it was getting out of the heavy truck business after just having spent some US$500 million to develop and launch the all-new cutting edge HN80 heavy truck platform for the 1996 model year.
Germany's Daimler, thru its US Freightliner subsidiary, purchased Ford's heavy truck technology, tooling, and assembly equipment for the all-new "Louisville" and "New AeroMax" models for a mere US$200 million.
A clueless Ford management sold its huge $500 million investment in the HN80 program for just $200 million to foreign aggressor Daimler.
Today, about 75 percent of commercial trucks in the Unites States are produced by foreign aggressors (Volvo owns Mack, Volkswagen owns Navistar International, Daimler owns Freightliner and Western Star).

Sticking with the aviation theme we can still call it a Bronco.

I fully support this. Highly upgrade the interior materials and instrument panel. Give it a fixed, metal, body-color-painted roof. Give it the 3.0 EcoBoost or a new 260-270 c.i. V8. Give it Lincoln styling cues and, if possible, rake the windshield a bit more. Maybe call it the Lincoln TransContinental.

It would need a fixed roof and a much more upscale interior. The Lincoln would have the 2.7 as a base motor with an upgrade to the 3.0. One would think then that the fixed roof could potentially be offered on the Bronco, especially to maximize return on the investment in that engineering and tooling. The roof is the only thing preventing doing a Lincoln version easily. Lincoln customers would not (and should not) put up with Bronco levels of road/wind noise.

The thing that makes me think it won't happen is how narrow the Bronco interior is. Even the Braptor. That's what makes me think we'll never see a Lincoln Bronco-based model. Hence, the Everest, perhaps with mixed in hood style cues from the Bronco.

My guess is that the only thing keeping the Everest from coming stateside is Ford needing a place to build it.

That said, Lincolns are the luxury line of fords...Broncos are not luxury. Broncos are adventure and dirt and mud and everything you keep luxury cars away from.
Based on the number of absolutely immaculate Broncos that I see parked in equally immaculate garages and driveways here, I think that most never got the memo.

I dont think a luxury bronco needs to be comfortable or quiet. The MB g wagon exists for instance.

Favorite plane, and we all want to see that adoption by Ford! Warthog!

dude, were you in the car last night while I spoke to my wife about this very concept???

Smooth out the body, lower it a couple inches, give it a Lincoln interior and feature set, and tune the suspension for the dealership owner's wife.

Make a blacked out version and honor the Marauder name with it.
Third row of seats too!
