This is everyone’s opportunity to say “I wish someone…” and for smart companies to get it done.

1. A pre-runner style bar that mounts to the modular bumper that does not show up in any way on the camera. Some of them are “close” but if they just made it a tiny bit larger, there’d be no problem.

2. Some sort of cargo cover that works on the hard top that is quick and easy to use and remove, doesn’t require a hard top removal for installation, preserves tailgate and folding seat usage, and doesn’t use double sided tape for installation.

3. Steps that mount onto the rock rails that are quick and easy to remove, but don’t depend on digging an uncovered bolt end into the rail.

4. Some sort of mini sun visor that augments the existing ones. I sit up high because I have a long torso. For me, the choice is being blinded or being able to only see about 1/3 of the windshield.

5. Old school headlight guards with a metal mesh that mount quickly and easily.

6. Some sort of “solid” dedicated off-roading door. Basically something that keeps the weather out. Could be a tubular door with some sort of composite skin, but the idea would be to have a set of doors that you can throw on for adventures. Doesn’t need power windows. Heck, maybe even have detachable uppers like the old Jeep half doors did.

3. I take it the digging comment is about the IAG (et al) step?

4. I have the same issue. I draped a gray microfiber cloth from the (useless) visor where it can hang down about 1 1/2", then fold that up when I don't need it. Not great, but it helps, and I can move it to the rollbar when the sun's on the left side (since in the 2dr it's woefully short as well).

6. I had the doors you're talking about on my YJ. It was very easy to go half door. They just had a canvas cover.

Not really a digging comment, but making a point that there is room for improvement that could easily result in extra sales.

Interesting idea on the fold down.

I wonder if getting creative with a visor mounted MOLLE could yield benefits.

A removable cover or adjustable replacement for the A-pillar vents. Something a bit better than a piece of duct tape

Almost makes me want to learn how to CAD a part to 3D print, if I had the time.

You said "digging an uncovered bolt end into the rail". I assume you mean the IAG step design, with the set screw that pushes into the rock rail. I have these (although I don't use the Trail Armor anymore), and know a few people that have the long ones, and they just pop them on and off.

Maybe if you get down and look on the back side, they're scratching the rock rail or messing up the powdercoat. I was thinking this is what you were referring to, and want something that doesn't use the set screw design.

Yes, that was what I was referring to.

I was just saying that I don’t think it’s a horrible product that should be banned…but that there is room for improvement.

Let’s say they - and others - are at a B or B+.

Just a little effort and they’d get an A.

I saw one interesting design out of China that basically encapsulates the rail with a two piece bracket. I would totally get it, except I’m not in the “order directly from Chinese internet site” mindset.

I have boxes of old '45s I'd love to be able to play in the Bronco. Who else would like an old-school turntable?

I definitely recommend Removable Trail Armor to go over your doors so you can protect the paint from scrapes and scratches and don't need to go through the hassle of removing your regular doors every time you want to go out. Plus if you're staying somewhere overnight you can safely lock up your rig. Check out MEK Magnet

I’m actually getting PPF on the doors because Sasquatch + gravel roads nearby.

I was thinking more from the “bigger than a scratch” perspective.

I've been eyeing the heck out of this. Seems to be easy to use, folds down when not in use, and gives a lockable trunk area when my hard top is off. Not sure if anyone here has gotten one yet, but this seems exactly like something I want.

Swinging Tailgate to Drop Down Tailgate conversion. (Rear bumpers with swing away tire holder are already available, which would be needed with this mod.)
