It’s all in how you treat it! Yeah it’s a Ford, but you know what? I’ve heard horror stories about VW most of my life, and yet have owned 5 since my first 1987 GTI and they were all spectacular, so believe what you want.

I came from over-engineered overly complex Mercedes to my Bronco. I have zero expectations that ANY car is perfect. That’s not my question when I buy one. My question is how easily can it be fixed? Given that it costs $800 in just labor alone to replace the $30 PCV on a W212 Mercedes (2010-2016 E350 sedan), and that their is a drain plug but no fill plug on the front differential…..my bar was set pretty low. I’m thrilled with my Bronco, and have zero regrets! Hell, just 7 bolts and a handful of wiring clips, and the entire body lifts off the frame!

yep userdude, i read your whole list, hopefully i'll dodge many of those.

unless i'm not setting it correctly, it appears that the steering wheel vibration for nearing a lane line has gone out. it used to work, now it doesn't. is there something i should do to turn it on?

Nope, they started randomly going off like I was close to something while driving the first week I bought it then started showing a message on the dash saying “Park Aid Fault” after a few minutes driving starting last week. When I turn off the motor and start back up they will work normally for 5 to 10 minutes driving and then through the error message and then the light on the switch comes on and will not allow you to turn them back on until the motor is restarted again.
I just wanted to provide an update, the service department found that one of the pins on the rear left park distance sensor plug had been pushed back (most likely during assembly) and was not making good contact in the wiring plug. This has been corrected and all is working fine now.

That happened to me early on but I’d unknowingly hit the button on the steering wheel. On Braptor it’s on inside right of left button cluster and there’s an indicator light on lower mid right side of dash that shows if it’s active or not. Hope that’s it as it’ll be an easy fix.

Guess I’ll chime in with my issues:
-rear window defrost wire decided not to stay attached to the glass
-have hard top delam issues but not bad yet and am biding time to let them figure out how to build them while I’m under warranty
-I’ve been active on threads about front diff leaks & issues although mine seems okay for now. That one bugs me how it’s even a thing tho mostly cuz I don’t love babysitting something i shouldn’t have to watch till 100,k mi. Issue is with skid plates it’s not an ultra easy check and if it does drip, you only have .8 quarts till empty. That and if mine blows, i’ll for sure be somewhere I really need it.
Beyond that, been a few recalls and likely more coming, but otherwise mines held up pretty well and is a blast to drive.

newbie owner here (never even had a Ford)! what problems/breakages should i expect from my 2024 Outer Banks over the next 5 years or so? i'm very conscious/aware/responsive to when things go wrong and i get broken things fixed asap. i'd just like to know what potential things to look out for before they happen?
I have had mine since December of 2021 no hard use. Has been great no out of out-of-pocket expenses.

I've heard nothing but horror stories about VWs too, but my experience mirrors yours. I've had two in the fleet, my first imports ever. Bought the first, a '10 Tiguan, after literally driving everything similar and finding I liked it the best. Expected issues, but not a single one in nearly 100K miles. Would have kept it longer, but was pondering replacing it in a year when I ran across the '17 Tig that replaced it in '18 as a new holdover for the price of used. Never an issue with it either, still going strong. Fit, finish, and build quality are the best I've had to date too. Wish they made trucks.

Second bold, the Germans like to put standpipes inside stuff and fill from the bottom up; presto, proper fluid level and only one plug. You just get socked for the maintenance you're forced to take it to the dealer for.

My '19 F150 has been a nightmare compared to the VWs, as well as my previous Fords which were great....
