What problems do you have with your late model ford that you hope do not infect the new Bronco?

Newest Ford i have is a 2011 F150 6.2. I've owned it since July 2014 and 22k miles and the 1st owner was my old boss he had zero issues. Only issues the truck has had are (2) multifunction switches, (1) Heater resistor, a transmission recall. Otherwise just maintenance items, oil changes, rotors and pads now at 75,500 miles its been damn near flawless. Ill be keeping it around a long time.

I'm not really worried about the first year run. For some reason my family has had really good luck with first year designs. Fingers crossed!

2005 F150 5.4L 4wd:
- Cam phaser rattle at around 120k, traded in before it got bad
- Spark plug replacement, traded in before I attempted the plug change
- Transfer case motor would get stuck and 4wd would not engage, solution was to cycle 4wd once a month

2004 Explorer 4.6L 4wd:
- Speed sensor in rear diff failed at 41k, would try to engage 4wd at highway speeds, dealer replaced the sensor
- Paint issues on hood due to contamination of the aluminum, Ford told me to get bent because it was not covered under the corrosion warranty because there was no "perforation" in the panel. How does an aluminum panel perforate from corrosion?

2015 Transit Connect
- Suffered from the axle seal debacle on the 6F35 transmission. A transmission should not run 230°F+ at highway speeds and be considered "normal operation". I will never buy another vehicle with the 6F35!

My BIL has a 2015 F150 with the 2.7EB. After 3 oil pans and 2 front covers, it still leaks oil like a sieve. Luckily, he purchased an extended warranty so its been just the $100 deductible each time but he tired of having it in the shop.

Conversely, my 2012 JK Wrangler only ever had 2 things go wrong over 6 years: an idler pulley died 3 months into ownership and the driver's side cylinder head was replaced due to a manufacturing defect. Both were covered under warranty and fixed in 1 day.

I plan on getting a basemansquatchbearpig because I don't trust the 2.7L or the 10 speed auto. I'm not a big fan of Sync either. Just give me manual, single zone climate controls too.

2015 & 2018 F-150 SCrew - frozen door latch - door will not close!
There is a recall on the door latches. Might want to check that out.

Had the recall work done. S the issue returned. No longer have that vehicle, so no longer an issue.

Thanks for the info. They've not worked for at least 10 yrs. It's not a big deal to me locking in the hubs. But with the Bronco, I won't have the manual option.
Don't worry, the new hubs in the bronco are like the raptor, they use vacuum to pull the hubs into 2wd. So every time you start it, the hubs get pulled into 2wd, so if the vacuum fails, they go into 4wd. So you will be stuck in 4wd till you fix the issue. this is nice because it wont leave you stranded in the snow or whatever.

I currently have 4 Fords 2005 and newer, other than minor recalls the only issue I've had is the door latch/lock on a 2013 Explorer. Kept getting "Door Ajar" warning even when it wasn't ajar. Replaced the latch assembly myself after warrantee expiration, a year later I was reimbursed for parts ($179 ) because it was determined to be a manufacturing defect.

Note: This was one of the hardest repairs I've done. I think they set the latch assembly on a bench and built a car around it.

I am starting to be slightly concerned. My daily driver is an 03 Excursion with the 7.3. At 257k, it has only needed a water pump and locking hubs, other than normal maintenance items.

I have a 2009 Ford Escape v6. I've never really had any major problems with it - only complaint is that it started rusting pretty early. I do live in Iowa, we have some shitty winters, but it still started rusting around the wheel wells quicker than I would have thought. Could have something to do with the concrete plant I worked at for years too. Hard to say. Other than that, no complaints.
this is a known issue with these model years. Rear fenders and tailgate at the bottom rust on the escape. I have the same issues with my 2009. I have only replaced the tires and the catalytic converter (welded a straight pipe...sorry epa). I would say getting 100,000 miles out of two of the stock tires is pretty good. I have had no issues thus far with the car.

Ditto, ridiculous problem. Otherwise my last 3 F150s have had minor issues, electronics related.

1999 Ford Escort purchased used low miles from an old lady. At around 60k the 1/2 shift began slipping. Shops wanted $1600 and up to fix. Wasn't worth it. Drove the car until rust, trans and brake lines bit the dust.

3rd auto trans I had issues with. Hence likely going Bronco manual. All my manuals have been rock solid regardless of mega miles and age.

Have a 2019 Ford Raptor Supercab, the new 2021 is only available in a 4 door. I hope they don’t do that to the Warthog.
