So how did this ever turn out?
Long-dead thread with a bunch of former members weighing in.
Ahh, the nostalgia.

It's been a really up and down journey! I thought about the Raptor for a long time. It's just not the one for me. I test drove a bunch of 18'-20' Denali's. I just couldnt see spending so much on a used vehicle! Their prices have gone up 40% in the last two years. So, I circled back to the Bronco. I put in an order for a Badlands, SAS, 4-Door, LUX 2.7, Soft top, no tow. Knowing it will be a year before I get it, I also found a Outerbanks, 2.3, soft, High package.... I pick it up a week from now. The wife will take the OB, or I will trade it in when the Badlands arrives! I'm pretty excited!

Thanks for resurrecting this old post! It brought back some memories for me!

I'm pretty convinced more people should be doing exactly this.

I have daily driven Jeepā€™s from CJ2As to CJ 7s, all rubicon driven also, but I was much younger then...want more comfort these days....not sure my Bronco will actually see rubicon duty if I ever get it but it will be way more comfortable getting to any trails it does see...

Ride. Warranty and 35" tires with a factory warranty. I had a new 2 dr Rubicon. Did the smallest 2.5" suspension lift to get 35's under it and keep it streetable. Drove from PHX to LA for Motorcycle show. Never AGAIN! Both hands on the wheel chasing every tram line between here and LA. I own and have owned lots of fast cars. Some are better eating up fast miles than others. Best was an Audi S-6 -V8 twin Turbos and you could hop out after 18 hours from PHX to Seattle at bad boy speeds on 2 lanes feeling like you just got back from the mall. Now the Bronco is not a speed demon but put the cruise control on any speed your wallet can live with and enjoy the ride. I just got back from a cross country ride in a 2 DR SAS. Best touring car in my opinion. Why. Sit up nice and high with great view out in every direction. 2 DR is wish bowl. Plenty of power to pay. Saw 97 on a triple pass on my trip. Good tunes-replaced speakers, and eats up ugly roads that are everywhere these days. 35's and lots of travel. I see no down side. I averaged 19 MPG. Better than the big Audi at speed lol.

This makes me smile!!!!

In a long strange run of events, I smoked a deer in the wife's Audi Q5 on NYE this year. While the damage looked minimal, the insurance co totaled the vehicle. So, since I kept the Denali, I'm back in that and the wife is driving the Bronco! I think she may have called the deer in to the Audi!!! She is slick that way!!!!

So, now I'm back thinking about what my next car might be! Hope you all are having a great summer!

Yeah, old thread! šŸ¤£

Now that Iā€™ve had ā€œSuburbansā€ (ā€˜95 2500, ā€˜02 Denali 1/2-ton, and ā€˜11 XL 2500) for towing, a ā€˜19 Duramax Silverado 2500HD, an ā€˜06 Wrangler LJR, and now a 2-door Badlands manual, I donā€™t see how a vehicle with a 100ā€ (or 116ā€ for a more-door) wheelbase and a 3500lb towing capacity can replace a 130ā€ wheelbase tow-monster. Iā€™m in the ā€œdonā€™t overload your tow vehicle EVERā€ and ā€œthere ainā€™t no such thing as ā€˜too longā€™ for towingā€ camps regarding tow-vehicles (I LOVE stable tow-vehicles!!!) so the most my Jeep or Bronco will tow are bicycle racks. Yeah, I know, some have to make do with single, do-it-all vehicles but I HATE to compromise if I can avoid it with vehicles, hence my ā€œfleetā€ā€¦ If I DID have to settle on only 1 vehicle, Iā€™d go back to having a Yukon XL 2500. The leaf-spring rear suspension and 130ā€ wheelbase are PERFECT for towing (and donā€™t forget the 9500lb towing capacity), it has room for 7 or 8 (depending on the middle row seat configuration), and it was pretty reliable (most problems were caused by rust so Iā€™d find the cleanest one I could and have it undercoated with Krown or Wax-Oil).

Making vehicle choices is tough but YOLO!
