The day before I traded in towards the Bronco I walked out of the airport at 10PM (in the pouring rain) to see my Ranger sitting on a flat. The culprit was a damn car key that somehow was vertical and strong enough to puncture the tire so that it was fully empty after being parked for a week.

Lovely send off to what was otherwise an awesome truck. The dealer was not to psyched to see the vehicle they had purchased from me already roll up on the spare.

those 6-ply factory Goodyears pretty useless desert south west
I'm actually very surprised just how good these tires have been.
Everywhere from the Deserts of the south west to the snow drifts of the Great White North...absolutely no complaints!

I agree it looks like brass. Nothing comes to mind that would be brass with such a small hole.

Speaking of strange things in your tires...this was my Mustang a few years ago...

One of my coworkers had this happen, same deal where the box end penetrated the tire.

The wrench had been cut in the middle, like someone wanted a shorter open end wrench. I had just pulled out of a McDonald's with my kid, and the car thumped, lurched to the right, and all hell went loose with my idiot lights. Roadside assistance came to pick me up, and while I was waiting for my wife to leave a meeting about a half hour away, and come pick us up, a local cop stopped, and gave us a ride home. It was an experience!

So I guess we are never going to find out what was in that tire? I'll have to add this to the list of things that randomly keep me from sleeping at night.
