I have a spare tie rod to carry with boot. What tools should I have with me on the trail to change it out if it breaks?

Large crescent wrench, pliers, 21 mm socket for tie rod at the knuckle, hand sledge or tie rod separator tool. Removing the wheel would make it easier so a jack & jack stand 19 mm socket & ratchet for removing the wheel.

Dont forget a long thin flat blade screwdriver, or pick tool to undo the factory clamp on the big end of the bellows. When reinstalling, I use zip ties in place of those, and tighten the zip tie by twisting w/a needlenose (works very well, but sometimes I miss the groove, so keep extra zip ties handy). Crescent wrench needs to be VERY large (34mm I think?), a large pipe wrench can also be used, but you will probably want to buy a crescent wrench specifically for this (of course you will find other uses for it later).

Yep, thought about that just after. I use hose clamps.
There is not a lot of torque on the inner tie rod, you just need a wrench that will fit it. I use a 15" Snap On Adjustable wrench.
You can probably get it with out taking the tire off though. I have not done it that way yet. It's good to be prepared. ;)
