What gets the HD steering rack in 2024:

- Any Sasquatch build
- Badlands
- WildTrak

What got the Sas in 2023:

- WildTrak

Is Sas worth it? Lots of folks say it's an appearance package only (wheels and tires), but that's not true. If you want to customize your ride and don't care about things like off roading or potential resale, go for it.

I don't think you'll save in the end unless you're going to change rims anyway, because you won't recoup the money on the rims. So really I think it comes down to, do you want warranties on the driveline or not?

One thing if you plan on flat towing the Bronco (like behind an RV), you don't want 4A (4 wheel advanced), since there seems to be a problem and blowing up your transmission is costly. I think you get that with Sas regardless, but I'm not sure.

Keep in mind that with the SAS everything has a warranty.

You won't get to call it a 'Squatch if you don't get that trim. It's in the rules, really.
Without Sas you don't get to tell everyone who doesn't need HOSS 3.0 that they need HOSS 3.0. ;)

Thinking I might pass on the Everglades, and just have fun building my own Black Diamond like my Son.
Just what will I miss if I get a non-squats and build it myself? The front locker? Iā€™ll jerk the crap shocks and replace with 6112ā€™s. Likely run Fifteen 52ā€™s. Will I get a better steering rack? Just what else should I consider a ā€œmissā€ if I donā€™t get a squatch?
I compare everything against the budget Sas Bronco, the Heritage Edition. Both built similar to the Everglades (2.3, auto, hardtop/sound deadening), the Black Diamond without Sas is only $2K less in price. If you plan on going with your own wheels regardless, selling the HE take-offs will net you an extra $1k(?). So spending an extra $1000 for the stronger front axles, front locker, AWD, slightly better gearing, and wider flares, better shocks with lift, seems pretty cheap if one can stomach the look of the HE. Myself I'd factor in, spending another $650 for the available aftermarket washout floor system. Of course you'd have to live with people telling you, you wasted $1000 on unnecessary, although superior components.

@mpeugeot I have no idea how you can get 23.5 mpg. At my best itā€™s 17 running down hill with tailwind at 35mph. But I wouldnā€™t trade a thing. Love to feed it the gas with a smile plastered on my face and the few hairs I have left waving in the wind.
It is not magic.

Thatā€™s with a rest stop and traffic going thru San Antonio at rush hour.

23.5mpg sounds like a 105 year old driver going 7 in the fast lane. Thankfully, we had a leadership conference and they taught us how to cope.

LMFAO - I am anything but gentle on the throttle and I have drifted the Bronco thru a turn or two on the street... LOL. Which it will happily do one the 17" steelies and General Grabbers in 4A/Sport.

SAS will take very little to go way bigger on tire and still keep great ride quality. People add all these after market shocks and spring kits find someone local go ride with them then Ride in a stock SAS and imagine adding more rubber between you and the road it only gets better. Call me old but I'm all about ride quality. For the person that said you can't balance the wheels easy I have 8 sas wheels all on 38s and all ride great. It was harder to balance the last set but I'm 99% sure it was due to the tires.

SAS lets you go up to 38s with very little cost besides the cost of the tire and I have the gears for the 38s or at least I have had no problems to date.

This is some quick info on what it take with sas. You can read my build threads if you want more info.

Thanks for the information everyone. I really appreciate it. Frankly, I will likely go for a SAS equipped Bronco. While Iā€™d like my own wheels as I really donā€™t like something like everyone else drives, Iā€™d likely sell the SAS wheels anyway, whether BL capable or the Everglades style.
Weā€™ll see what happens. Thinking I will pass on this Everglades coming in unless itā€™s a real deal. It will come in in September, although itā€™s being built this week, so maybe this month?

How you will use it is super important. No need for axles and goodies if you are buying the upgraded spicer front end and the 60 in the rear. light wheeling and stock size tires I wouldn't do it either. However if you are seeing rocks in the first ten days and don't want to modify do the badlands or the wildtrack... wash out floor is nice too. hate the way they designed it, its hard to get the water all to the drain...

While most has been covered I will put my 2 cent inā€¦if not badlands: stronger front diff & axlesā€¦front & rear lockersā€¦stronger steering rack & tierodsā€¦.4.7 gearsā€¦warranty.ā€¦(that stuff will easily cover the cost of the package vs after market and be plenty capable)ā€¦better shocksā€¦17x8.5 wheelsā€¦35ā€ tiresā€¦for freeā€¦Now if ya donā€™t care about the ā€œmechanicalā€œ stuff, donā€™t get Sasquatch and just buy a cheap lift along for some wheels + tires and call it a dayā€¦also if ya plan to do 60 rear + ā€extremeā€ 44 front with 5.38s and full weld74 steering donā€™t get Sasquatch and get your wallet outā€¦party on

Love my EG! It's not your cheapest option but it's pretty damn capable out of the box. I doubt I'll ever be able to push it to it's limit.
